Fabian, and in July 2009 their baby girl, Lynn,
was born. At the moment she is at home and
also working for her husband’s company.

Kate (Hanzel) ’96 and Kevin Coniglio ’96
reside in Lincoln with their two children
Luciana Grace, who was born on Oct. 12,
2009, and her big sister, Mia, born on Oct.
14, 2007. Kate graduated from UNMC with
a master’s in nursing in May 2009. She is
now board certified as an adult acute nurse
practioner.
Alicen (Schulte) Brandl ’97 and her husband,
David, reside in Lincoln with their two
children, William and Samuel. Alicen is a RN
as well as a stay-at-home mom.
Ann (Brady) Rivera ’98 and her husband,
Kirk, have been married since October
2007. Their 19-month-old daughter, Natalie
Marie, was born in July 2008. Ann has been a
registered nurse for four years.
2000s
Kristine (Sand) Black ’00 and her husband,
Robbie, have been married for six wonderful
years, and they have been blessed with three
beautiful children. Their life is truly a gift
from God. Kristine is homemaker, fitness
instructor and LPN.
Erika (Bruening) Pawlowski ’00 teaches
high school English and also works as an
adjunct professor of education at Nebraska
Wesleyan University. She is enrolled in
a doctoral program at the University of
Nebraska-Lincoln, which she hopes to
complete in 2011. Erika married her husband,
Luke Pawlowski, in 2008.
Zachary Stammer ’01 married Ashley
Sorensen of Lincoln in August 2009, just a
week after his grandmother, Tillie Hruby,
passed away. He has two daughters, Patrice,
born in December 2007, and Tillie, born in
January 2009.
Kati (Fick) Skrdla ’02 and her husband,
Jeremy, were married on Dec. 31, 2005. They
have two daughters, Bernadette, born on Oct.
18, 2006, and Clare, born on May 23, 2008.
The family resides in Lincoln where Kati is a
stay-at-home mom.
Nicholas Fisher ’02 is currently in the Air
Force serving in Misawa, Japan. He has been
in the Air Force almost seven years now and
has less than two years left in Japan. Nicholas
has been stationed in Texas and Istanbul,

Turkey. He married Penny Long from Hawley,
Texas, in April 2005; she is also in the Air
Force. They welcomed their first child,
Nicholas James, on Dec. 22, 2009.
Martin Oborny ’02 graduated from basic
training at Lackland Air Force Base in San
Antonio as an Air National Guard Airman.
Becke (Stammer) Galarza ’02 has been
married since 2003. They have a daughter,
Natalie, born Dec. 31, 2003, and a son,
Diedrich, born April 1, 2008. Becke graduated
from Kaplan University in August 2008 with
an Associate of Applied Science degree in
medical assisting. She is currently enrolled
with University of Phoenix-online to obtain
her bachelor’s in business with a concentration
in accounting and expects to graduate in
mid 2011. She has been employed with
Nelnet since June 2009 and works in the post
default department for their private loans.
Her grandmother, Tillie Hruby, passed away
August 2009 to Alzheimer’s. She was 88
years old. She passed only a week before her
brother, Zach Stammer’s wedding. She is
survived by seven children; 14 grandchildren;
two step-grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren;
four step-great-grandchildren.
Doug Auten ’03 and his wife,
Michella Prasek, were married
on April 26, 2008. Dan and
Michella have two children,
Broklyn James born on Feb. 9,
2007, and Emily Nichole born
on April 21, 2009. Michella is a 2002 Lincoln
High graduate. The family resides in Lincoln
where Doug is employed at TMCO and
Michella is a stay-at-home mom. They both
love their jobs very much.
Dustyn Curran ’03 and his wife, Kristen,
reside in Minnesota where Dustyn is a
construction engineer/project manager.
Kali Krings ’04 received her Bachelor of
Science Nursing degree on Dec. 19, 2009 from
the BryanLGH College of Health Sciences.
Jason Gfeller ‘05 was chosen to receive the
Pride of the Plains marching band award from
the University of Nebraska-Kearney. This
award is given to the outstanding graduating
member of the UNK Marching Band. He was
very surprised as this honor is usually awarded
to a music major, which he is not. His name
will be engraved on a plaque that hangs in the
UNK band room.
Michaela McBride ‘05
graduated Dec. 19, 2009 from
the University of Nebraska
- Lincoln with a bachelor’s
degree in biological systems engineering.
She’s moved to Maryland where she will
be doing research in the Army lab to help
improve the soldiers’ equipment.
Masrur Odinaev ’05 and his wife, Dilana,
are expecting their first child and reside in
Los Angeles as well as Frankfurt am Main,
Germany. Masrur graduated from Full Sail
University in Orlando, Fla. and is the CEO
for Tajik Records and marketing director for
Electronics Network 101 in San Francisco.
Kory Kahlandt ’06 is a senior running
back for Nebraska Wesleyan University. He
received the Great Plains Athletic Conference
First-Team All-Conference honors at the
running back position. Kory finished with
the seventh highest season rushing total (936
yards) in school history and tied the school
record for 14 rushing touchdowns.
Greg Zuerlein ’06 was named an AFCA
Division II All-American according to the
Lincoln Journal Star Dec. 8, 2009 issue.
Greg made 17 of 23 field goals and had 30
touchbacks on kickoffs.
Amanda Lee ‘07 placed 10th in the East
Coast Athletic Conference cross country
championships to help lead her Middlebury
College to the ECAC Cross Country
Championship. Middlebury College is
an NCAA Division III school located in
Middlebury, Vt.
Lauren Cook ’09 has been named as the
2009 AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches
Association) Freshman of the Year for all
NCAA Division I Volleyball Athletes. She was
previously named the Freshman of the Year
in the Pac-10 Conference, and Freshman of
the Year in the Pacific Region of the United
States. Lauren also received All-Conference
Honorable Mention accolades. She was also
was selected to the Pac-10 All-Freshman
Team. Lauren became just the fifth Bruin
all-time to earn AVCA National Player of the
Week honors on Sept. 14, also receiving Pac-
10 Player of the week accolades. Lauren just
completed her freshman year at UCLA. She
was the starting setter for the Bruins.
Caroline Barber ’09 signed with Murray
State University, in Murray, Ky, for Rifle.
They had their conference championship,
called the Ohio Valley Conference Feb.
6-7, and Caroline wanted to let the Pius
Community know that they won their
conference.
