Welcome
Dear Alumni, Parents & Friends,
The 225 graduates in the Class of 2010 have achieved incredible goals; they represent themselves, their
families and Pius very well. I pray they will do well in life and stay close to our Lord.
BOLT 2010, “Grateful Reflections,” celebrated the 25th anniversary of this important and elegant
fundraising event for the students of Pius X. Once again, it was a wonderful evening and a great success.
Net proceeds of over $180,000 were realized to be used for security cameras and to begin saving for a new kitchen for the
food service program. Thank you to Deb Schulte and the BOLT executive committee for your leadership. Thank you to the
hundreds of volunteers and donors who step up each year to make this event successful and incredible.
As Pius X High School begins its 55th year in Lincoln, the school’s Board of Advisors is beginning a new strategic planning
process. While our ongoing accreditation process demands periodic goal setting and review of academic goals and various
construction projects in recent decades have involved elements of future planning for the facility, it has been several years
since we have undertaken an organized long-term vision and strategic planning exercise. The time is right to develop a
systematic vision involving all major elements of our institution. Once completed, it will provide better guidance and
accountability for achieving that vision. Some key elements of the vision and strategic plan must include:
• revisiting our mission statement and letting our mission drive our process (“We are dedicated to a total education that is
Christ-centered by integrating Catholic values in all areas of life and providing academic preparation of the highest
quality in a disciplined environment”)
• setting strong Catholic identity and culture goals
• setting and achieving high academic goals
• continuing to keep Pius X High School affordable for all families while providing fair and just wages and benefits for
our faculty and staff. If we want to continue to provide excellent education, we must offer competitive salaries to hire and
retain the best teachers. Hence, we must determine the best way to balance (or redistribute) sources of funding: tuition,
parish assessments, fund-raising, endowments, etc.
• developing a strategic master plan for future growth and renovation of the campus including such projects as:
◦ razing the old Clark Jeary building to provide more parking
◦ building a new Performing Arts Center
◦ renovating our locker rooms
◦ adding new classrooms and up-grading old classrooms
◦ improving our outside practice facilities
• identifying areas of the operation that need specific improvement
• fostering communication and joint planning with the eighteen parishes which support Pius X and the ten parochial schools
that feed into Pius X – Pius X is a centralized, parish high school. This also includes planning with other diocesan
agencies and organizations with regard to overlap of fund-raising campaigns
Thanks for all your prayers and support. It is the collective work and prayer of you and many others that makes Pius X High
School the great school that it is. May your summer bring joyful times with family, relaxation and rejuvenation!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Father Jim Meysenburg
Superintendent
