Philippine National Road Network 1. NORTH-SOUTH BACKBONE (5,233 km) – main trunk line from northernmost Luzon down to Southern Mindanao interconnecting major islands. 2. EAST-WEST LATERALS (2,965 km) – roads traversing backbone and across the islands (about 100 km apart) 3. OTHER ROADS (7,362 km) – direct access to important centers and areas vital for regional development and emergencies. 4.
