Coin and Flag Series - United Nations Postal Administration - ONU

2011 COIN AND FLAG SERIES 3 MARCH 2011
On 3 March 2011, the United Nations Postal
Administration (UNPA) will continue its Coin and
Flag series by releasing 24 new stamps in the denominations
of 44 cents, F.s. 0,85 and € 0,65. Three
mini-sheets of eight stamps each will be released.
This is the fifth year of the stamp series representing
the coins and flags of Member States of the United
Nations. The series is expected to run for approximately
eight years until stamps representing all 192
Member States are issued.
STAMP SPECIFICATIONS
The stamps, in denominations of 44 cents,
F.s. 0,85 and € 0,65, measure 30 mm horizontally
by 40 mm vertically, perforation to perforation.
Perforation: 13.33 mm. The stamps on the sheet are
pin perforated. There is a unique vertical roulette
perforation that divides the sheet into two panes of
four stamps each. An ultraviolet luminescent security
feature is incorporated on the stamps.
The vertical sheets of eight stamps have eight
marginal inscriptions, two in the left margin, two
in the right margin and four in the centre. The
marginal inscription consists of the United Nations
emblem with the text “United” above the emblem
and “Nations” below the emblem. Miniature versions
of the flags on each sheet are also reproduced in the
margin of the sheets. Progressive values are incorporated
in the top and bottom margins of all three values
of the stamp sheets. One copyright symbol will appear
in the lower left margin.
THE FORMAT
The three sheets, consisting of two panes of four
stamps, will each accommodate eight different coins
and flags. There is a vertical roulette perforation to
divide the sheet into two panes of four stamps each.
CONCEPT
The concept for the United Nations Coin and Flag
series was developed by Jenny Karia (United Nations).
THE DESIGNER
The designer of the 2011 Coin and Flag series is
Rorie Katz (United Nations).
PRINTING
The stamps were printed in offset by Cartor
Security Printing (France).

SELLING UNITS
MINT STAMPS
To provide for the complete set of the Coin and
Flag series, standing order customers with former Flag
series requirements have been converted to receive
the New York, Geneva and Vienna Coin and Flag
series mint stamps. If these established customers do
not wish to receive or have different requirements for
this series, they are requested to please contact UNPA
to amend their standing orders. Other customers
who wish to add the Coin and Flag products to their

The full sheet of eight different stamps will be
considered as a single unit and is the only selling unit
for the Coin and Flag series.
Customers with standing orders for single and full
sheet selling units for the Flag series will now receive
the larger of these two selling units in their Coin and
Flag series standing order requirements.

stamps by completing the order form attached to
this Bulletin.
