Installing fiber cables Installing fiber cables / 147 Installing fiber cables. Fiber cables are durable, but can be damaged. To avoid damage that can affect the signals transmitted, observe the following guidelines: • Coil excess fiber cable on the spool provided for the installation. • Secure the fiber cable spool in the ICS cable trough. • Ensure that bends in the cable are no tighter than 100 mm. (4 in.) in diameter. • When using cable ties, bundle fiber cables loosely. • Avoid excessive pulling, compression or impact. • Do not grasp the fiber cable, or the clasp where the cable joins the plug, when connecting or disconnecting a fiber cable plug into a port. • Do not leave fiber cables in an environment with excessively high temperatures (for example, on top of radiators).
