What’s new with <strong>Norstar</strong><br />

The <strong>Norstar</strong> 0X32 system has new equipment and software<br />

with improved performance to meet your growing<br />

tele<strong>com</strong>munication needs.<br />

To upgrade from any previous version of<br />

M<strong>ICS</strong> software, you must use the upgrade<br />

tool to upgrade to M<strong>ICS</strong> <strong>4.0</strong>. See Upgrading<br />

your <strong>Norstar</strong> system on page 112.<br />

ISDN Primary Rate Interface (PRI)<br />

The existing <strong>ICS</strong> DTI card is reused by configuring it with a<br />

software key to give it ISDN-PRI functionality. Refer to<br />

Software keys on page 337.<br />

¥ PRI using existing Digital Trunk Interface DTI (T1) card<br />

¥ You can ac<strong>com</strong>plish PRI interoperability with equipment<br />

that are National PRI ISDN-2 (NI-2) <strong>com</strong>pliant, using<br />

NI-02 interface on <strong>Norstar</strong> equipment such as<br />

Lucent 5ESS, GTE-GTD5, DMS-100, DMS-10 and<br />

Siemens EWSD, and Lucent Definity G3 PBX<br />

¥ You can have interoperability with DMS-100 central<br />

office not only using NI-02 interface but also DMS-100<br />

custom interface. This is dependent on what your service<br />

provider has provisioned; DMS-100 custom (PRI (NI-1)<br />

or National PRI ISDN-2 (NI-2)<br />

¥ You can also have interoperability with DMS-250 central<br />

offices using DMS-250 custom interface on <strong>Norstar</strong> (MCI,<br />

Sprint, Generic)<br />

¥ You can have interoperability with AT&T 4ESS using<br />

4ESS custom interface, on <strong>Norstar</strong><br />

¥ Two way DID, see example on page 93<br />
