feature button: Many <strong>Norstar</strong><br />

features are invoked by pressing the<br />

Feature button followed by a feature<br />

code. The feature button is also used to<br />

exit a feature.<br />

Feature Cartridge: A replaceable<br />

cartridge containing the <strong>Norstar</strong><br />

features. The Feature Cartridge is<br />

inserted into the <strong>ICS</strong>.<br />

feature code: A number that is used<br />

to activate a particular feature.<br />

Feature programming:<br />

ƒ•‹<br />

Allows you to program a feature code<br />

onto a memory button.<br />

Forward: See Call Forward.<br />

Full Autohold (on idle line): When<br />

this feature is on, if you select an<br />

available line, and then do something<br />

that selects another line, the first line is<br />

put on hold. Full Autohold is enabled<br />

under Trunk/Line data in Lines<br />

programming.<br />

Full Handsfree: See Handsfree.<br />

Ground Start trunk: Ground start<br />

trunks offer the same features as loop<br />

start trunks, but are used when the local<br />

service provider does not support<br />

disconnect supervision for the digital<br />

loop start trunks. By configuring lines as<br />

ground start, the system will be able to<br />

recognize when a call is released at the<br />

far end. Ground start trunks are<br />

provided only by a DTI.<br />

Group Listening:<br />

ƒ°‚¤<br />

A feature that allows you to have others<br />

in your office hear a caller through your<br />

phoneÕs speaker. The caller hears you<br />

only when you speak into the receiver<br />

and cannot hear other people in the<br />

office.<br />

You can cancel Group Listen for the<br />

current call. Group Listen is cancelled<br />

automatically when you hang up the<br />

Group Listen call.<br />

H<br />

Handsfree: ©<br />

A feature you can use to make calls<br />

without using the telephone receiver.<br />

Full Handsfree is activated under<br />

Capabilities in Terminals and Sets<br />

programming. When it is activated, a<br />

Handsfree/Mute button is automatically<br />

assigned to the telephone.<br />

Handsfree (HF) Answerback:<br />

When activated, this feature<br />

automatically turns on the microphone<br />

at a telephone receiving a Voice Call so<br />

that the person receiving the call can<br />

respond without lifting the receiver. It is<br />

activated under Capabilities in<br />

Terminals and Sets programming.<br />

Handsfree/Mute button: See<br />

Handsfree.<br />

Hardware: A section in programming<br />

that shows what equipment has been<br />

installed in the <strong>ICS</strong>. This section is<br />

accessed by the installer.<br />

headset: A head-mounted or<br />

ear-mounted telephone receiver that is<br />

used instead of the hand-held receiver.<br />

Headsets are not <strong>Norstar</strong> <strong>com</strong>ponents<br />

and must be supplied by the customer.<br />

Held (Line) Reminder: A <strong>Norstar</strong><br />

telephone rings and displays the<br />

message On hold: LINENAM when an<br />

external call has been placed on hold for<br />

a certain period of time. The Held Line<br />

Reminder feature and Remind delay are<br />

set under Ftr settings in System<br />

programming.<br />
