July 1, 2009 SVR board meeting<br />

President Cookie Anderson called the meeting to order at<br />

6:37PM.<br />

Attending: Cookie Anderson, Mike Willis, Kim Nelson, Doug<br />

Klein, JR Evinger, John Murphy, Betty Silva, Lee Deter, Helen<br />

Ashuckian, Bob Peake, Frederick Rauch, Robert Sime<br />

Minutes: The June minutes were reviewed and accepted.<br />

OLD BUSINESS: None.<br />

NEW BUSINESS:<br />

Articles for the Drifter: Cookie expressed a desire to see more<br />

articles in the Drifter summarizing events that members have<br />

put on for the club. It was noted that to be eligible for year-end<br />

awards articles must be written and published in the Drifter. It<br />

was agreed that Babette should call or email event organizers before<br />

their event and remind them to write articles – a few lines<br />

– and send them to JR.<br />

New Membership Directory: SVR’s 2010 Membership Directory<br />

will come out in January and to accommodate this time frame<br />

the cut-<strong>of</strong>f for inclusion in the Directory will be the October<br />

Membership Report.<br />

Board Positions for 2010: Cookie noted that three current board<br />

members will be termed-out at the end <strong>of</strong> this year and they include<br />

Betty Silva – Treasurer, Bill Keegan – Vice-President and<br />

Kim Nelson – Secretary. Cookie plans on writing an article for<br />

the Drifter and also getting her Nominating Committee together<br />

to look for potential candidates.<br />

Tech Articles: The board discussed its desire to have more Tech<br />

Articles published in the Drifter and noted that at the SVR/Zone<br />

Concours Jim Weber, Niello’s Service Manager, indicated an interest<br />

in having a column where he would answer club member’s<br />

tech questions. Cookie agreed to contact SVR’s Tech Chairperson,<br />

Roger Walker, and ask him to follow-up with Jim and coordinate<br />

the articles.<br />

BOARD MEMBER REPORTS:<br />

Charity: Tambra Kroetz<br />

Tambra submitted a budget for the September 13 Charity Auction.<br />

After a lengthy discussion a motion was made and seconded<br />

to subsidize the event by $100.00 so that all the proceeds from<br />

the auction could go to the Charity. The motion passed unanimously.<br />

Competition: Frederick Rauch<br />

Frederick reported that the recent DE at Laguna Seca was incident<br />

free. He also noted that progress is being made on getting<br />

the Autocross trailer back in tip-top shape. Mike suggested that at<br />

the end <strong>of</strong> every Autocross season the Competition Chair take a<br />

year-end inventory <strong>of</strong> the trailer’s contents and any maintenance<br />

items that need to be fixed.<br />

Mike made a motion for Bob Peake to be authorized for up to<br />

$300.00 to purchase 6 new fire extinishures for the Autocross<br />

trailer. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved.<br />

Frederick noted that we do have a December 18th DE event<br />

scheduled for Laguna Seca. September 26th is the next Autocross<br />

date.<br />

Advertising: Mike Willis<br />

All <strong>of</strong> our advertisers are paid up.<br />

Drifter: JR Evinger<br />

JR noted that the July Drifter is done.<br />

Financial Report: Betty Silva<br />

Betty reported that the club is financially strong and has money<br />

in the bank.<br />

G24: Lee Deter<br />

After discussion Cookie asked Lee Deter and Doug Klein to work<br />

together to bring a recommendation back to the board for combining<br />

the G24 program and New Member Program.<br />

Goodie Store: Tom Sisson<br />

No report<br />

Membership Director: Doug Klein<br />

SVR has 578 primary members with 475 affiliate members for a<br />

total <strong>of</strong> 1053. The club also has 3 dual members. SVR had 8 new<br />

members last month. 2 members transferred-in and 5 transferred<br />

to other regions.<br />

Social Director: Babette Hatten<br />

Cookie reported for Babette and 4 Dinner and Tour budgets were<br />

discussed and approved by the board.<br />

Webmaster: John Murphy<br />

John reported that hits on the website have stabilized around<br />

55,000 per month with nearly 20% representing visitors from<br />

over 50 countries. The Classified Ads, Drifter and Photo Page are<br />

consistently amongst the most popular destinations. Clearly the<br />

Drifter is being read by folks other than SVR members. The July<br />

Drifter was visited nearly 1600 times in the first two days it was<br />

posted. SVR only has about 1050 members.<br />
