Native to Mexico <strong>and</strong> Central America,<br />

dahlias provide us with more pleasure than almost<br />

any other summer bulbs. They produce an abundance<br />

of wonderful flowers perfect for ‘gift giving<br />

flower arrangements‛ throughout early summer<br />

<strong>and</strong> again in late summer until frost. If they are<br />

picked for arrangements, these ‘cut <strong>and</strong> come<br />

again‛ plants require almost no care, they appear<br />

to be pest resistant <strong>and</strong> they come in a myriad of<br />

colors. They are happy in full sun or partial shade.<br />

Top-sized tubers; approx. 1 per sq. ft; zones 8-<br />

10; have overwintered in our zone 7 gardens with<br />

extra winter mulch among our daffodils <strong>and</strong> tulips;<br />

we divided them into groups according to their<br />

shape; top sized tubers.<br />

Single blooms with a single outer ring of florets<br />

which may overlap, the center forming a disc.<br />

Normally about 1‛-2‛ tall; ideal for fronts of<br />
