An old-fashioned flower originally from
Africa, that has reclaimed its place in the flower
border and cut flower. Colorful blossoms alternating
up tall stems, come in a myriad of colors
and offer linear structure to the back of the
garden. Glads prefer full sun, well drained soil
and sometimes need to be staked to keep them
from falling over. They often stand up nicely when
planted deeply or when grown with other strong,
sturdy plants like cannas that act as a trellis for
them. Plant at one week intervals to extend bloom
Many bulbs in this catalogue make wonderful cut flowers. When they begin to bloom, they provide tons of
flowers, but sometimes, all at one time! If you plant them in two week intervals, you’ll have a continuous supply
of flowers throughout the summer! Just store the ‘yet to be planted’ bulbs in a well ventilated area until
you get them planted!
