update
SPARSH – An Employee Assistance Program
CSC in India has recently launched an employee assistance program (EAP)
called SPARSH exclusively for its employees and their immediate family
members, absolutely free of cost.
Employees today are faced with tremendous stress on various accounts like
work pressure, work-life balance and relationship issues. Many times, they do not
share their problems with anyone especially at work for the fear of being judged.
The bottom-line is that they are stressed and it affects their productivity.
At CSC in India, the average age of an employee is 28 years; with a young workforce, the issues are
manifold. Through the EAP, counseling services would be provided by qualified and experienced counselors
to employees on a whole gamut of issues they face while going through life. Sometimes just talking the
problem out without the fear of being judged can be cathartic. The EAP would also reaffirm CSC’s
commitment towards the well being of employees.
One to One Help: A Bangalore based organization has been identified to take this initiative forward. It
provides counseling services to companies as well as individuals. SPARSH will help the employees meet
life’s challenges in a safe and secure environment. They can talk to a counselor from One to One Help about
any personal, relationship, work related or parenting issues that may be bothering them. They can get neutral
and objective professional advice on various issues like anger management, dealing with stress,
shyness/loneliness/lack of self-confidence, relationships, pre-marital and marital concerns, workplace
relationships, and parenting concerns. SPARSH will help them understand themselves and their problem
completely.
The interaction with the counselors is strictly confidential. All transactions on the One to One Help Web site
utilize secure technology to protect privacy and prevent any unauthorized access to information.
The launch of this program was a huge success with employees getting high quality of service regarding their
grievances.
FSG India Division Releases ‘FS Solutions – India’
FSG management has a vision and business objective of Complete Integration of Delivery Processes i.e.
making deliveries from any location without impacting the customers. This requires common processes,
common tools and management integration.
As a first step to implement this vision, the FSG India division has developed ‘FS Solutions – India’ aligned to
Catalyst (CSC’s global best practices), FSG global processes and CMMI version 1.1 comprising policies,
procedures, guidelines, templates, checklists, references and samples covering the 22 process areas of
CMMI Level 5.
The India FSG Quality team, headed by Alok Sharma worked towards aligning all the process elements to
Catalyst, FS Solutions global and CMMI model for developing Quality Management System - FS Solutions
India. The global FSG - Software Engineering Process Group (FSG-SEPG) team was involved to review
these procedures against the CSC global standards. Finally, FS Solutions – India version 1.0 was released
on September 5, 2006 marking the first baseline version FS Solutions – India. It is indeed the first milestone
in maturity journey towards CMMI maturity level 5. Needless to say, FS Solutions – India will evolve and
enrich continuously.
Looking forward, the team will be working towards the transition of each FSG project to FS Solutions – India
standards by October 31, 2006. Process roll-out training is scheduled for CMMI Champions identified for all
lines of businesses (LoBs) and Software Quality Assurance Facilitator (SQAF). CMMI Champions and SQAF
jointly will spearhead the FS Solutions awareness and the transition to new templates across projects by
October end 2006.
CSC in India once again manages to hold on to its place in the Dataquest-IDC Top 20 Indian IT Best Employers survey. CSC in India was among top 20
in the Dataquest-IDC Best Employer survey in 2005 and 2003.
Information Security Standard Upgraded from BS7799: 2002 to ISO27001: 2005
The Noida and Hyderabad units of CSC in India have upgraded their information security certification from BS7799: 2002 to ISO 27001:2005.
BS7799: 2002 has been adopted by ISO, re-badged and released as the new international standard, ISO 27001:2005. It is the latest international
standard specification for an Information Security Management System (ISMS).
Accordingly:
• Organizations previously certified against BS 7799: 2002 have to get their
certification upgraded to ISO 27001:2005 by April 14, 2007. From this date,
certificates against BS7799: 2002 will no longer be valid.
• All ISMS audits conducted after April 14, 2006 had to be against the
requirements of ISO 27001:2005 standard only.
ISO 27001:2005 migration project started in February 2006 and CSC Noida
facility was assessed in July 2006. Recently, on August 24 and 25, Hyderabad
facility also successfully underwent the ISO 27001:2005 assessment.
Pass the words to share knowledge, but
don't pass passwords
ISO 27001:2005 certification will continue to provide competitive advantage to
CSC in India in the global marketplace, as it puts the company in the league of
those few organizations who comply with the globally accepted and respected
standards. The certification develops confidence in customers that information
security is managed, monitored and controlled effectively at every stage by
CSC in India.
This migration initiative was led by Global Security Solutions (GSS) team supported by members of Network Management Group (NMG), HR,
Administration, Finance and Software Technology Management Group (STMG).

guest of honor
Rendezvous with Marwan R Shishakly
Marwan Shishakly, vice president - Global Solutions and Technology (GST), together with Terri Staton,
director - Planning and Support GST visited CSC in India during second week of September 2006. It was his
first trip to India after joining CSC and his fourth visit to India overall.
The main purpose of his visit was the team here. Mr.
Shishakly says, “Currently, there are 130 people in GST
India. It is a much better team and we will continue to grow
through the year.“ He also wanted to know their work,
what their capabilities are and give them a specific
mandate of what India region is required to do. During
their five days stay in India, they visited Hyderabad and
Agra.
On India’s contribution towards CSC’s growth in GIS space, Marwan says, “CSC in India is directly
contributing to GIS growth in many ways. Projecting forward, India manifests in its disciplined capabilities,
quality processes, complete resource management practices and quality work.”
His key message to the CSC in India employees was that they should know what they want to be as a part
of CSC. The type of transactions they execute should be well because the value of business is measured
by cheaper cost of labor and offerings. People in India should support the global team in defining and
executing strategies in GST areas from organizational point of view.
On asking about the image that he would carry back with him, he says, “I came here with a positive image
and also going back with the same image. I have worked with people here and benefited from them. The
only difference is that I have a more complete understanding of people and what they can do individually. I
had good expectations and so was not surprised with the work of the Indian team. Hyderabad is a very
different city – built well, modern and hi-tech. People here are very enthusiastic and should help ignite rest
of us. Overall, the trip was very useful.”
Bob Riddler Visits CSC in Chennai and Hyderabad
Bob Riddler, the Account's Application Solutions Manager (ASM) for Europe visited the newly established
CSC Chennai centre during the last week of August. It was his second visit to India.
The purpose of the visit was to create awareness among the
project team about the productivity clause in the client-CSC
contract. There were sessions on 'Productivity Index (PI)'
conducted by Bob, to stress on the importance of PI.
LEF Accepting Nominations for
2007 CSC Award for Technical
Excellence
The Leading Edge Forum is accepting
nominations for the 2007 CSC Award for
Technical Excellence from November 1.
Awards will be granted for highly-innovative
work that has yielded measurable results
and has the greatest potential for use in
other parts of the company. The CSC
Award for Technical Excellence has been
CSC's most prestigious award for 19 years.
Award recipients receive options on 1,000
shares of CSC stock and an expense-paid
trip to the 2007 CSC Technology and
Business Solutions Conference in Miami,
Florida. Any regular employee of CSC and
its subsidiaries may be nominated for a
technical achievement, either as an
individual or member of a team (some
restrictions; see complete eligibility
requirements).
Complete information is available on the
CSC Portal.
He met a lot of people and got a real feel for the capability
and professionalism of the teams. To this, he adds, “It was a
great opportunity to meet such a wide cross-section of the
client account community particularly as so much of our
success is dependent on CSC in India.”
When asked about the image of India he would carry back
with him, Bob says, “As ever, the main impressions were
around the 'buzz' in the offices, the 'can do' attitude, the
feeling of competence that is everywhere from the canteens
to the factory floors and the inquisitiveness of the people
attending my training sessions: many of the most relevant
questions I was asked across four countries came from the
Indian teams.”
Bob's profound knowledge of the details in the client-CSC
contract and his relevant practical examples made the
sessions dynamic.

tech talk
The nbAccelerator (nbA) India team has significantly contributed to the launch of nbA at one of the client’s
environment, the first insurance company to use nbA for its life policies.
The client is a financial services organization operating in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. and has implemented
CSC's nbA software to automate its life insurance and annuity new business and underwriting activities. This
marks the first use of nbA for life insurance policies. The client has streamlined its processes through the
integration of nbA with CSC's VANTAGE-ONE insurance administration software.
CSC's nbA, which is based on ACORD
standards, automates life insurance and
annuity application submission, requirements
management, underwriting management,
workflow and productivity reporting, and
policy issue processing. By eliminating
processing steps, reducing handoffs and
automating tasks, nbA increases productivity
and decreases the administrative costs of life
and annuity contracts.
• CSC’s offshore-onshore collaboration
helps a leading insurance company
resolve the major virus outbreak
• Completed seamless offshoring of
end-to-end Production Control support
work from CSC in US to India for the
first time
• Claims Desktop (CDT), CSC’s
insurance product, phase B goes live
successfully for one of the leading
insurer based in the US
The launch of nbA at the client end is part of a larger program to reduce administration costs, enhance
integration with internal and external providers and improve the speed, efficiency and quality of its services.
The client chose nbA for its easy integration with other CSC software, its compatibility with the company's
existing major design and architectural requirements, and the opportunity to join with other nbA users in
guiding enhancements to the software.
"Integrating a new business system into our back office is a key component in the foundation for future
growth," said the client senior vice president, Service Delivery. "nbA will allow us to reduce insurance
administration costs and provide enhanced services to our members and distribution channels."
"During the 25 years we've worked together, the client
has achieved impressive business results leveraging
CSC's experience," said Michael W. Risley, president
of the Life and Annuity Division of CSC's Financial
Services Group. "Being the first to implement nbA for
life insurance is another of this company's innovative
yet practical business strategies."
Other insurers already use CSC's nbA to process
annuities, but this implementation is the first
production use of nbA for life policies. The client will
use nbA to issue and underwrite term, whole life and
universal life individual insurance as well as annuities.
The CSC India team has played a critical role in
achieving the milestone. The team manifested
unyielding determination, dedication and
commitment. These core attributes are intrinsic to
team’s performance. The team is highly charged over
the much-deserved success.
The team celebrated the grand success. Certificate of
achievements (CoAs) were distributed by senior
management group (SMG) members.
The geared up team is all poised up to keep the performance par excellence in all their future endeavors and
to leave their mark with flying colors each time.

CSC in India Celebrates Independence Day
Talent Hunt
The 60 th year of the Indian independence was marked with great enthusiasm and solemn celebrations at all
the CSC locations in India on August 15, 2006.
With the Independence Day round the corner, one of the teams added a patriotic touch to their workplace
area by organizing the ‘Decorate your cube area’ contest with Independence Day as the theme. There was
enthusiastic participation among everyone and one could see flags, balloons, kites and even lights of the
national colors everywhere.
The CyberLife-GUL-RPS team won the first prize with
the Life70 team a close second. The Vantage Base
and DVR-LUS teams won special prizes. The following
quote of Romain Rolland epitomized the Independence
Day spirit:
If there is one place on the face of the earth where all
the dreams of living men have found a home from the
very earliest days when man began the dream of
existence, it is India.
Apart from this, the Social Services Committee (SSC) members celebrated the occasion with senior citizens
of Anand Niketan, an old age home in Noida. Volunteers from CSC Noida went to Anand Niketan early
morning on August 15 to decorate their premises with tricolor balloons, colorful ribbons and national flags.
Patriotic songs from old Hindi films created the perfect ambience to celebrate the 60 th Independence Day of
India.
The celebration started with the flag hoisting by Mr. B.R. Arora, managing trustee of Anand Niketan. It was
followed by antakshari (music competition) and tambola (number game), organized by the volunteers of
CSC. Members of the Rotary club presented dance performances on the occasion.
Ms. Neelima Mishra, secretary and trustee, said, “It’s heartening to see so many young people sharing their
time with senior citizens and celebrating the most auspicious event of our country.
I must thank them for their empathy and compassion for
the residents of Anand Niketan and making it a
memorable event. CSC celebrates the Independence Day
at Anand Niketan every year. It also organizes movie
shows for the residents of this old age home every
month.”
Similarly, the CSC employees in Indore celebrated the
Independence Day with unfurling of the tricolor. Many
school children assembled and added to the spirit and
gaiety of the occasion.
