SPARSH – An Employee Assistance Program
CSC in India has recently launched an employee assistance program (EAP)
called SPARSH exclusively for its employees and their immediate family
members, absolutely free of cost.
Employees today are faced with tremendous stress on various accounts like
work pressure, work-life balance and relationship issues. Many times, they do not
share their problems with anyone especially at work for the fear of being judged.
The bottom-line is that they are stressed and it affects their productivity.
At CSC in India, the average age of an employee is 28 years; with a young workforce, the issues are
manifold. Through the EAP, counseling services would be provided by qualified and experienced counselors
to employees on a whole gamut of issues they face while going through life. Sometimes just talking the
problem out without the fear of being judged can be cathartic. The EAP would also reaffirm CSC’s
commitment towards the well being of employees.
One to One Help: A Bangalore based organization has been identified to take this initiative forward. It
provides counseling services to companies as well as individuals. SPARSH will help the employees meet
life’s challenges in a safe and secure environment. They can talk to a counselor from One to One Help about
any personal, relationship, work related or parenting issues that may be bothering them. They can get neutral
and objective professional advice on various issues like anger management, dealing with stress,
shyness/loneliness/lack of self-confidence, relationships, pre-marital and marital concerns, workplace
relationships, and parenting concerns. SPARSH will help them understand themselves and their problem
completely.
The interaction with the counselors is strictly confidential. All transactions on the One to One Help Web site
utilize secure technology to protect privacy and prevent any unauthorized access to information.
The launch of this program was a huge success with employees getting high quality of service regarding their
grievances.
FSG India Division Releases ‘FS Solutions – India’
FSG management has a vision and business objective of Complete Integration of Delivery Processes i.e.
making deliveries from any location without impacting the customers. This requires common processes,
common tools and management integration.
As a first step to implement this vision, the FSG India division has developed ‘FS Solutions – India’ aligned to
Catalyst (CSC’s global best practices), FSG global processes and CMMI version 1.1 comprising policies,
procedures, guidelines, templates, checklists, references and samples covering the 22 process areas of
CMMI Level 5.
The India FSG Quality team, headed by Alok Sharma worked towards aligning all the process elements to
Catalyst, FS Solutions global and CMMI model for developing Quality Management System - FS Solutions
India. The global FSG - Software Engineering Process Group (FSG-SEPG) team was involved to review
these procedures against the CSC global standards. Finally, FS Solutions – India version 1.0 was released
on September 5, 2006 marking the first baseline version FS Solutions – India. It is indeed the first milestone
in maturity journey towards CMMI maturity level 5. Needless to say, FS Solutions – India will evolve and
enrich continuously.
Looking forward, the team will be working towards the transition of each FSG project to FS Solutions – India
standards by October 31, 2006. Process roll-out training is scheduled for CMMI Champions identified for all
lines of businesses (LoBs) and Software Quality Assurance Facilitator (SQAF). CMMI Champions and SQAF
jointly will spearhead the FS Solutions awareness and the transition to new templates across projects by
October end 2006.
From the New President’s Desk
Thank you for a warm welcome into the
CSC family.
This organization
has grown rapidly
over the last few
years. I am very
impressed
with the quality of
work, the leadership, the technical
expertise of the teams and the service
delivery regimen in place. This has helped
you script many success stories you must
all be proud of.
My compliments to all of you!
I can see the spark of enthusiasm and the
passion for delivery in the organization.
These are cornerstones for us to build on,
as we embark on the next stages of our
journey of growth and excellence.
The dynamics of our industry and our
customers' expectations of outsourcing are
increasing significantly and setting the bar
higher for us. In my interactions with CSC
management teams, I can sense the
appreciation for what has been already
achieved and also very high expectations
of all of us in the future. India is a strategic
operation for CSC, and we have a unique
opportunity to add even more significant
value to the company. I am confident that
together, we can fulfill those expectations.
I am excited to work with all of you. I am
sure we will have many opportunities
shortly to interact personally and I look
forward to them. In the meantime, I urge
you to continue the good work and keep
the focus on what matters most - our fellow
employees and our customers.
