Oracle Magazine Names
Dennis Alley RFID Architect of
the Year
Dennis Alley, partner in CSC's Consulting
Group, was named Oracle Magazine's
RFID Architect of the Year. He will be
recognized along with other Editors' Choice
Award recipients at Oracle Open World,
October 22-26 in San Francisco.
RFID stands for Radio Frequency
Identification, and is an automated means
to identify objects via data storage devices
called "tags" or transponders.
Jitender Mohan Tara
Alley won the award based on a
centralized, customized solution developed
for a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)
supplier, to help them meet DoD RFIDenabled
shipping processes.
Hardik Mukesh Desai
Mandeep Kaur
"I was very pleased to win the award, and I
believe there is much more work to come --
RFID is going to continue to expand," says
Alley. "We’re in a state right now where the
DoD and companies are mandating the use
of RFID, but some suppliers aren't really
seeing any return on investment yet. But
that's going to change over time, as RFID
components get cheaper and as the basics
are installed. It's going to build on itself and
will be accelerating over some number of
years."
