tech talk The nbAccelerator (nbA) India team has significantly contributed to the launch of nbA at one of the client’s environment, the first insurance company to use nbA for its life policies. The client is a financial services organization operating in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. and has implemented CSC's nbA software to automate its life insurance and annuity new business and underwriting activities. This marks the first use of nbA for life insurance policies. The client has streamlined its processes through the integration of nbA with CSC's VANTAGE-ONE insurance administration software. CSC's nbA, which is based on ACORD standards, automates life insurance and annuity application submission, requirements management, underwriting management, workflow and productivity reporting, and policy issue processing. By eliminating processing steps, reducing handoffs and automating tasks, nbA increases productivity and decreases the administrative costs of life and annuity contracts. • CSC’s offshore-onshore collaboration helps a leading insurance company resolve the major virus outbreak • Completed seamless offshoring of end-to-end Production Control support work from CSC in US to India for the first time • Claims Desktop (CDT), CSC’s insurance product, phase B goes live successfully for one of the leading insurer based in the US The launch of nbA at the client end is part of a larger program to reduce administration costs, enhance integration with internal and external providers and improve the speed, efficiency and quality of its services. The client chose nbA for its easy integration with other CSC software, its compatibility with the company's existing major design and architectural requirements, and the opportunity to join with other nbA users in guiding enhancements to the software. "Integrating a new business system into our back office is a key component in the foundation for future growth," said the client senior vice president, Service Delivery. "nbA will allow us to reduce insurance administration costs and provide enhanced services to our members and distribution channels." "During the 25 years we've worked together, the client has achieved impressive business results leveraging CSC's experience," said Michael W. Risley, president of the Life and Annuity Division of CSC's Financial Services Group. "Being the first to implement nbA for life insurance is another of this company's innovative yet practical business strategies." Other insurers already use CSC's nbA to process annuities, but this implementation is the first production use of nbA for life policies. The client will use nbA to issue and underwrite term, whole life and universal life individual insurance as well as annuities. The CSC India team has played a critical role in achieving the milestone. The team manifested unyielding determination, dedication and commitment. the lighter side CSC in India Celebrates Independence Day Talent Hunt The 60 th year of the Indian independence was marked with great enthusiasm and solemn celebrations at all the CSC locations in India on August 15, 2006. With the Independence Day round the corner, one of the teams added a patriotic touch to their workplace area by organizing the ‘Decorate your cube area’ contest with Independence Day as the theme. There was enthusiastic participation among everyone and one could see flags, balloons, kites and even lights of the national colors everywhere. The CyberLife-GUL-RPS team won the first prize with the Life70 team a close second. The Vantage Base and DVR-LUS teams won special prizes. The following quote of Romain Rolland epitomized the Independence Day spirit: If there is one place on the face of the earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India. Apart from this, the Social Services Committee (SSC) members celebrated the occasion with senior citizens of Anand Niketan, an old age home in Noida. Volunteers from CSC Noida went to Anand Niketan early morning on August 15 to decorate their premises with tricolor balloons, colorful ribbons and national flags. Patriotic songs from old Hindi films created the perfect ambience to celebrate the 60 th Independence Day of India. The celebration started with the flag hoisting by Mr. B.R. Arora, managing trustee of Anand Niketan. It was followed by antakshari (music competition) and tambola (number game), organized by the volunteers of CSC. Members of the Rotary club presented dance performances on the occasion. Ms. Neelima Mishra, secretary and trustee, said, “It’s heartening to see so many young people sharing their time with senior citizens and celebrating the most auspicious event of our country. I must thank them for their empathy and compassion for the residents of Anand Niketan and making it a memorable event. CSC celebrates the Independence Day at Anand Niketan every year. It also organizes movie shows for the residents of this old age home every month.” Similarly, the CSC employees in Indore celebrated the Independence Day with unfurling of the tricolor. Many school children assembled and added to the spirit and gaiety of the occasion.
