guest of honor
Rendezvous with Marwan R Shishakly
Marwan Shishakly, vice president - Global Solutions and Technology (GST), together with Terri Staton,
director - Planning and Support GST visited CSC in India during second week of September 2006. It was his
first trip to India after joining CSC and his fourth visit to India overall.
The main purpose of his visit was the team here. Mr.
Shishakly says, “Currently, there are 130 people in GST
India. It is a much better team and we will continue to grow
through the year.“ He also wanted to know their work,
what their capabilities are and give them a specific
mandate of what India region is required to do. During
their five days stay in India, they visited Hyderabad and
Agra.
On India’s contribution towards CSC’s growth in GIS space, Marwan says, “CSC in India is directly
contributing to GIS growth in many ways. Projecting forward, India manifests in its disciplined capabilities,
quality processes, complete resource management practices and quality work.”
His key message to the CSC in India employees was that they should know what they want to be as a part
of CSC. The type of transactions they execute should be well because the value of business is measured
by cheaper cost of labor and offerings. People in India should support the global team in defining and
executing strategies in GST areas from organizational point of view.
On asking about the image that he would carry back with him, he says, “I came here with a positive image
and also going back with the same image. I have worked with people here and benefited from them. The
only difference is that I have a more complete understanding of people and what they can do individually. I
had good expectations and so was not surprised with the work of the Indian team. Hyderabad is a very
different city – built well, modern and hi-tech. People here are very enthusiastic and should help ignite rest
of us. Overall, the trip was very useful.”
Bob Riddler Visits CSC in Chennai and Hyderabad
Bob Riddler, the Account's Application Solutions Manager (ASM) for Europe visited the newly established
CSC Chennai centre during the last week of August. It was his second visit to India.
The purpose of the visit was to create awareness among the
project team about the productivity clause in the client-CSC
contract. There were sessions on 'Productivity Index (PI)'
conducted by Bob, to stress on the importance of PI.
LEF Accepting Nominations for
Excellence
The Leading Edge Forum is accepting
nominations for the 2007 CSC Award for
Technical Excellence from November 1.
Awards will be granted for highly-innovative
work that has yielded measurable results
and has the greatest potential for use in
other parts of the company. The CSC
Award for Technical Excellence has been
CSC's most prestigious award for 19 years.
Award recipients receive options on 1,000
shares of CSC stock and an expense-paid
Florida. Any regular employee of CSC and
its subsidiaries may be nominated for a
technical achievement, either as an
individual or member of a team (some
restrictions; see complete eligibility
requirements).
Complete information is available on the
CSC Portal.
He met a lot of people and got a real feel for the capability
and professionalism of the teams. To this, he adds, “It was a
great opportunity to meet such a wide cross-section of the
client account community particularly as so much of our
success is dependent on CSC in India.”
When asked about the image of India he would carry back
with him, Bob says, “As ever, the main impressions were
around the 'buzz' in the offices, the 'can do' attitude, the
feeling of competence that is everywhere from the canteens
to the factory floors and the inquisitiveness of the people
attending my training sessions: many of the most relevant
questions I was asked across four countries came from the
Indian teams.”
Bob's profound knowledge of the details in the client-CSC
contract and his relevant practical examples made the
sessions dynamic.
