I am writing on behalf of our family to express our deep gratitude and appreciation for the fine work of
Constables Robert Robinson and Andre Boteju of #5 District Uniform. These two officers responded to
our 9-1-1 call and played a big role in saving my mother-in-law’s life.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY
Our two-member Occupational Health and Safety
Bureau promotes a safe and healthy work environment
by reducing the impact of workplace injuries and
disease. The bureau has established procedures and
educated members on issues ranging from ergonomics
and environmental hazards to communicable diseases
and pandemic preparedness.
CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
The six members of the Corporate Communications
Bureau are the public voice of York Regional Police.
In 2007, the bureau’s two Media Relations Officers
issued 840 media releases on subjects ranging from
police activities to crime prevention and safety
messages.
The team works to improve internal communication
and awareness through the production of the YRP
noteBOOK newsletter, the annual report, our Internet
and Intranet sites and, new in 2007, the pilot of
YRP TV, an internal communications vehicle aimed
at increasing officer safety and incident awareness
through in-house television broadcasts.
LEGAL SERVICES
The six members of Legal Services manage the risk
and liability of York Regional Police by providing
expertise and advice on a broad range of legal issues
to the Chief of Police and members of York Regional
Police. The bureau also provides counsel on matters
regarding the deployment of police resources and
acts as a liaison with the Crown Attorney’s Office and
other legal agencies as required.
The Freedom of Information Unit falls under Legal
Services and in 2007 received 1,529 formal and
informal requests for information.
