University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine PGME <strong>2012</strong>-<strong>2013</strong><br />

WORK PERMIT (if applicable)<br />

If you are not a Canadian citizen/permanent resident:<br />

Present your work permit and passport at the PGME Office and<br />

purchase University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) for yourself<br />

and accompanying family members within 10 days of arrival in<br />

Canada.<br />

PAYROLL – applicable to residents paid by the Toronto<br />

Hospitals <strong>Postgraduate</strong> Payroll Association (THPPA):<br />

First time-residents must complete the payroll/benefits forms<br />

on-line and submit the federal and provincial TD1 forms as well<br />

as a void cheque for electronic deposit. Returning residents<br />

should report any changes that may affect your PAIRO benefits<br />

or direct deposit information.<br />

ON-LINE TRAINING FOR PRIVACY-PHI PROTECTION:<br />

Complete the e-learning privacy module that is accessible on the<br />

trainee menu on the <strong>Postgraduate</strong> Web Evaluation and<br />

Registration (POWER) website at http://pgme.med.utoronto.ca .<br />

Successful completion of the module, by achieving 100% in the<br />

module quiz, is a registration requirement.<br />

ON-LINE REGISTRATION – COMPLETION<br />

The POWER Registration website is pgme.med.utoronto.ca<br />

Access to the registration record is obtained by using the<br />

Personal Identification Number (PIN) and password, as provided<br />

to by the PGME Office. Once you are in your record, you will be<br />

prompted from one screen to the next to complete/change the<br />

information. Some fields are mandatory and you will be unable<br />

to continue without providing this information. “Warning”<br />

messages regarding CPSO licensure, work permit, immunization,<br />

etc. must be cleared in order to reach the payment section.<br />

Payment of the registration fee can be made by credit card online.<br />

Payment by cheque, cash or Interac must be done in<br />

person at the PGME Office. Payment is the last step in<br />

registering. The registration fee for the <strong>2012</strong>-13 academic<br />

session is $550.00 (pro-rated) and is not refundable.<br />
