Eligibility for Licensure:<br />

In order to take up an elective at the University of Toronto, candidates<br />

must be eligible for licensure by the province’s medical licensing body,<br />

the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). For applicable<br />

CPSO requirements for graduates of accredited medical schools in<br />

Canada or the United States, please visit the following link:<br />

Because CPSO requirements are subject to change, candidates should<br />

contact the CPSO directly to confirm these requirements. Please consult<br />

the CPSO website at www.cpso.on.ca .<br />

Required Documents:<br />

A medical trainee registered at a Canadian medical school outside<br />

Ontario who wishes to take an elective under the supervision of a<br />

University of Toronto postgraduate program director/training program<br />

must submit the following documentation through the University of<br />

Toronto program to the Toronto PGME Office:<br />

1. written permission from Toronto program director agreeing to<br />

the elective<br />

2. written permission from current program director at the home<br />

university<br />

3. up-to-date CV, including date of birth, Social Insurance Number<br />

(SIN) and citizenship status<br />

4. copy of medical degree<br />

5. complete immunization record<br />

6. proof of registration with the Canadian <strong>Medical</strong> Protective<br />

Association (CMPA)<br />

Note: McGill residents must also provide a letter of authorization<br />

from the McGill PGME Office.<br />
