Under the Ontario Alcoholism Research Foundation Act, 1949, the Ontario<br />

Government at a recent Cabinet Meeting appointed eight members of the Foundation,<br />

among them Harold M. Gully, Mr* Arthur Kelly, K , C , is Chairman*• •.• During<br />

his recent visit to Vancouver, Napier Moore was able to pay a short visit to Dr#<br />

Lawren Harris in his beautiful home which looks out upon Burrard Inlet in an<br />

environment of imposing mountain sceneiy•....<br />

Dr. Bert Rolph writes President Moorhouse from Orlando, Florida, that<br />

he is "enjoying summer in this unbelievable land" t The club will welcome him<br />

back to our own changeable Spring weather John Coulter is on an extended<br />

visit to England in connection with the production of his plays. In a recent<br />

letter to Harry Tedman he refers to a visit to the Savage Club in Carlton Place<br />

Terrace # Also he expressed himself feelingly as to the penetrating inclemencies<br />

of the weather which he had encountered and which caused him to think highly of<br />

the Canadian climate and the warm comforts of Canadian homes, As to food he<br />

found no scarcity of the essentials.<br />

BACK TO BONNIE DUNDEE<br />

A recent luncheon guest was George White, former architect of the Ontario<br />

Public Works Department and an old member of the Club, Since Mr« White retired<br />

from the Civil Service ten years ago he has been spending his leisure time between<br />

Cleveland House, Lake Rosseau, and Toronto, with occasional visits to Scotland,<br />

his original home. When Thomas Hardy*s historical play, "The Dynasts", was presented<br />

in the Royal Alexandra Theatre in 1912 Mr. White was in the cast with Barry<br />

Cleveland, William Ralston and Jules Wegman among others. He spent last summer<br />

in Scotland and now contemplates making his permanent home in Dundee where his<br />

immediate relatives still live* It is hoped that he will revisit Canada from time<br />

to time*<br />

Other visitors noticed recently at the club at lunch-time were James<br />

Levy, formerly first violin of the Hart House Quartet and of the London String<br />

Quartet, guest of Paul Hahnj and Ira Dilworth, head of the Canadian Broadcasting<br />

Corporation office in Montreal.<br />

Temporarily on the casualty list is Archie Chisholm now taking a six<br />

weeks cessation from active work. The latest news of him is that he has already<br />

received great benefit from his rest in "The Old Creamery", his picturesque home<br />

at Locust Hill near Markham#.... # . On March 3rd, Geza de Kresz and Boris<br />

Hambourg gave the last of the Twilight Musicales presented by the Toronto Music<br />

Lovers Club in the Museum Theatre,<br />

OBITUARY<br />

We regret to report the death on March 4th of Lillian Wheeler Mason,<br />

wife of Dr# Arnold Mason. The sympathy of the Club goes out to Arnold.<br />
