All the sample schools reported to have drinking water facilities.<br />

Fire wood is the common fuel however, there are 5 primary and 2 UPS are using<br />

gas for MDM.<br />

(j) Community participation.<br />

The VECs are directly involved with the MDM therefore, they look after the<br />

program but their contribution particularly cash or kind is almost absence.<br />

(k) Inspection and supervision.<br />

It was reported by the 5 primary schools about the inspection of MDM by the<br />

person out the community<br />

(l) Impact.<br />

In regard to the improvement of enrolment in the schools the 37 primary schools<br />

and 4 UPS are very positive about it however, 6 primary and 4 UPS have<br />

indifferent opinion.<br />

General observations:<br />

All the Primary Schools of Siliguri educational district are covered<br />

under the MDM programme. All the upper primary schools are not yet<br />

extended the MDM.<br />

It was revealed that there are no health cheeks up programme in the<br />

school nor children were given micronutrients or de-worming medicines<br />

in the majority of the schools.<br />

Space is a common problem to store the food grains of MDM in primary<br />

school.<br />

The general impression of safety, Hygiene, & cleanliness about the MDM<br />

is good.<br />

Participation of the parents / VECs in MDM almost absence and there is<br />

lack of supervision from the community.<br />

SSKs were also provided cooked MDM but there are differences in<br />

quality of MDM with that of Primary School.<br />
