The EGS are mainly managed by the SSK Mission of P & RD, Deptt. Govt. of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Bengal</strong>. It<br />
understood that there are 307 SSKs & 26 MSKs centers are running in the District on the basis of the<br />
previous year information.<br />
This SSK(Sishu Siksha Karmasuchi) project is run by the P&RD Department for the children in<br />
the age group of 5+ to 8+ years. These Kendras are locally managed and are set-up accordingly to local<br />
demand. The mode of operation for this Kendras is very flexible as regards to time schedule for class<br />
hours.<br />
As many as 10 SSK centers were visited by the monitoring team and found that all SSKs are<br />
running by the female EVs. It was found that EVs were present on the day of the visit. Majority of EVs<br />
were attended training for organizing SSK centers arranged by the block level officer and the respective<br />
supervisors of SSK. It has been reported that there are SSK centers which has more than two EVs. The<br />
educational qualifications of the EVs are class-X pass and they used to get very irregular payment of<br />
Rs.2000/- p.m form local Bank.Further informed that the enhancement of honorarium for the SSKs<br />
Instructor (EV) will be made soon by the State Govt.<br />
In addition to the above the activities for out of school children are running from the office of the District<br />
SSA Mission.<br />
Bridge Course:<br />
Under the program it was informed that there are 409 non- residential in nature of centres running<br />
during the year 2008-09.<br />
AIE centers:<br />
Under the program 7 centres are in operation with the involvement of NGOs and further informed one<br />
RBC is functioning for 200 children.<br />

As per the previous year information there are 27923 children are enrolled in the SSKs and 5296<br />
student are enrolled in the 26 MSKs.<br />

To be verified on the spot in respect of the centre visited<br />
by MI. The MI will visit all categories of such centres in<br />
a district on sample basis.<br />

There are 870 Sahayikas (EVs) are working in the 307 SSKs. In the MSKs 5-6 teachers are working.<br />

the BRC/CRC regularly. The frequency of such<br />
academic support be ascertained. Whether any<br />
instruction have been issued by DPO on this<br />
