CSR courses were for the first time ever included in the<br />
program for newcomers to the ITGO; some of the highlights<br />
were: CSR concepts, CSR's significance to corporate<br />
competitiveness, CSR policies (comprising <strong>Acer</strong>'s SR policies,<br />
energy and climate strategies, environmental health and safety<br />
policies), organizations promoting CSR (CSO), universal<br />
standards, <strong>Acer</strong>'s endeavors and pledges on social, economic,<br />
and environmental levels, and the keys to advancing CSR.<br />
Learning and Career Development<br />
<strong>Corporate</strong> operation strategies, <strong>Acer</strong>'s core values and CSR serve<br />
as the backbone of <strong>Acer</strong>'s training agenda. <strong>Acer</strong>'s training systems<br />
can be divided into Manager Development Training for supervisors,<br />
Specialized Training Programs, and General Knowledge Courses<br />
(including trainings for newcomers to the company); e-learning<br />
is included in the program in Taiwan to improve efficiency. 160<br />
training courses were set up in Taiwan in <strong>2009</strong>, with 2,235 people<br />
enrolled, totaling 33,261 in training hours.<br />
CSR Trainings<br />
3.General Knowledge Courses<br />
This training comprised general new recruits trainings,<br />
sales communication, team-building, communication ability<br />
enhancement, and office software instructions. 654 newcomers<br />
in the Taiwan region partook in the program.<br />
Program Structure and Effectiveness<br />
1. Manager Development Training:<br />
<strong>Acer</strong> experienced one of its fastest-growing years in <strong>2009</strong>;<br />
and to improve leadership and communication abilities of<br />
supervisors on various levels for multinational and crossregional<br />
work, the company incorporated PC market analysis,<br />
strategy development, cross-cultural team leadership and<br />
communication courses in this set of program, to equip these<br />
supervisors with greater flexibility and troubleshooting skills.<br />
There have been 364 management-level officers in the Taiwan<br />
region participated in the courses.<br />
2. Specialized Training:<br />
With a view to ameliorating staff's professional aptitude, <strong>Acer</strong><br />
pioneered in expanding its corporate job-specific professional<br />
trainings in the Taiwan region in <strong>2009</strong>. The courses included<br />
brand architecture building, marketing, channeling service and<br />
quality management. And for newcomers at the <strong>Acer</strong> ITGO, a<br />
3-to-6-month orientation program is effected so that the new<br />
recruits can quickly learn the ropes of <strong>Acer</strong>'s core values and<br />
culture, and operation procedures to instantly get with the<br />
program to perform their best.<br />
Team-building activities<br />
We will continue to provide the staff with a nurturing learning space<br />
and a wide array of empowerment courses. Other than trainings<br />
held by the company, we subsidize employees' licensing courses<br />
and institute incentives packages to encourage the staff to obtain<br />
professional licenses or certificates. 18 employees in the Taiwan<br />
region were subsidized accordingly in <strong>2009</strong>.<br />
