o’r myfyrwyr gyngor ac arweiniad arbennigol gan aelodau o staff sy’n eu hadnabod ers blwyddyn 7 i lunio
ceisiadau Coleg neu Brifysgol a’u mentora’n rheolaidd i sicrhau eu bod yn cyflawni eu potensial.
The Welsh Baccalaureate
The Welsh Baccalaureate is a qualification, which recognises almost everything young people do in school. It
includes current, approved Advanced Level, GCSE and Vocational courses and adds breadth and balance
through a core curriculum. Ysgol Maes Garmon has offered the Welsh Baccalaureate since 2009 and it is a
compulsory study area for all students. The Advanced Diploma corresponds to an A grade at Advanced Level
which corresponds to 120 UCAS points. The experiences which the students gain through the Baccalaureate
develop and embellish their personal skills and attributes which is what employers and educational
establishments are looking for. These experiences also enrich the detailed subject knowledge which is already
being provided via the Options. With the emphasis on learning by doing, together with the opportunities to work
with employers, to be involved in adventurous activities and work in the community to develop necessary skills
for the future, the Welsh Baccalaureate is a valuable and important qualification for the students of Ysgol Maes
Garmon.
Our students have an excellent record of entry to Universities and Colleges. Every student will be given expert
guidance and advice by staff, who have known them since year 7 when making their College and University
applications. Mentoring schemes for students encourage them to fulfil their potential and achieve target grades.

disgyblion fel eu bod yn cyrraedd eu llawn botensial. Credwn y gellir gweithredu hyn drwy gadw’n
disgwyliadau o berfformiad pob disgybl yn uchel, a thrwy roi sylw arbennig i bob unigolyn. Cyfrifoldeb pob un
o’r athrawon ydy pob disgybl. Trefnir darpariaeth arbennig i rai grwpiau neu unigolion sydd angen cymorth
ychwanegol, ac fe weithredir rhestr argymhellion y Llywodraeth trwy’r camau Anghenion Addysgol
Ychwanegol er lles y disgybl unigol. Gweithredir ar ofynion Datganiadau disgyblion unigol yn unol â Chôd
Ymarfer Anghenion Addysgol Ychwanegol. Mae gan yr ysgol dîm o athrawon anghenion ychwanegol a
Chymorthyddion Dosbarth, yn osgystal ag ymwelwyr cyson i’r ysgol, megis Athrawes Cefnogi Ymddygiad yr
AALl, Swyddog Llês Addysgol a Seicolegydd Addysg.
The aim of the school is to provide a curriculum and activities which will stimulate and reinforce the pupils’
motivation so that they achieve their full potential. We believe that we can achieve this be keeping a high
expectation of every pupil’s performance, and by giving each pupil special attention. Every pupil is the
responsibility of every teacher. Support is arranged for some groups or individual pupils with additional needs
statements but we do not label pupils by withdrawing them from their classes permanently. Individual pupil
statements are acted upon in line with the Additional Needs Code of Practice. The school has a team of
Additional Needs teachers and Classroom Support Workers, as well as the LEA’s Behaviour Support Teacher,
Educational Social Worker and Education Psychologist.
