Blue Sea Cucumber<br />
Actinopyga caerulea<br />
This <strong>sea</strong> cucumber is fairly new to science, having been formally described in 2005. It is also<br />
known from Indonesia. This species is usually found during <strong>the</strong> day and night on sand or sand<br />
and rubble <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> forereef slope to at least 30 m depth. It grows to about 30 cm in length and is<br />
mottled variably in grayish blue on a white background. Like o<strong>the</strong>r members <strong>of</strong> Actinopyga, it<br />
has an anus encircled by five calcareous “teeth.”<br />
