Night-wandering Sea Cucumber<br />

Stichopus noctivagus<br />

This species is mottled orange-red and white, with occasional dark blotches and with small erect<br />

white papillae scattered over <strong>the</strong> dorsum. It grows to about 20 cm in length. This is a nocturnal<br />

species usually found in deeper <strong>water</strong> on <strong>the</strong> forereef slope to at least 30 m depth on sand and<br />

sandy rubble near live coral. This species was only first described in 1980.<br />
