Speckled Sea Cucumber
Bohadschia vitiensis
This sea cucumber grows to 50 cm in length and is usually called B. marmorata, a name applied
to several species. This form may be a variant of B. bivittata, which has two transverse brown
bands over the dorsum. Like others of the “marmorata” group, it is nocturnally active, lying
buried in well-aerated sand during the day. It is usually found in shallow water of the reef flat,
particularly in seagrass beds.
