This <strong>sea</strong> cucumber grows to 30 cm in length, dark brown, occasionally with irregular back<br />
transverse bands dorsally. The figured specimen shows <strong>the</strong> papillae typical <strong>of</strong> small animals and<br />
absent in larger individuals. It is active and exposed day and night, usually found in <strong>shallow</strong><br />
<strong>water</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reef flat, particularly in <strong>sea</strong>grass beds.<br />
