and Student Exchanges<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong> played host to a delegation <strong>of</strong> Brazilian<br />

higher education <strong>of</strong>ficials on Monday, February 27, to <strong>in</strong>vestigate<br />

future <strong>in</strong>stitutional relationships and student exchanges. The<br />

delegation’s trip, hosted <strong>in</strong> <strong>Philadelphia</strong> through <strong>the</strong> International<br />

Visitors Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>Philadelphia</strong>, is aim<strong>in</strong>g to grow <strong>the</strong> government <strong>of</strong><br />

Brazil’s “Science Without Borders” Program. Brazil is look<strong>in</strong>g to place<br />

100,000 students over <strong>the</strong> next four years <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world’s best<br />

universities to study and conduct research, with half com<strong>in</strong>g to<br />

Flexibility for Earn<strong>in</strong>g an MPH<br />

MOU Signed with South Korea’s<br />

Far East <strong>University</strong><br />

<strong>U<strong>Sciences</strong></strong> has forged an important relationship with Far East<br />

<strong>University</strong> (FEU) <strong>in</strong> South Korea dur<strong>in</strong>g a sign<strong>in</strong>g ceremony on<br />

Thursday, May 17, 2012. Central to sign<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Memorandum <strong>of</strong><br />

Understand<strong>in</strong>g is <strong>the</strong> establishment <strong>of</strong> an exchange program<br />

to provide students from both universities with an educational,<br />

scientific, and cultural experience. As <strong>the</strong> program fortifies,<br />

<strong>the</strong> partnership will explore new opportunities, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g jo<strong>in</strong>t<br />

faculty and academic program development and <strong>the</strong> exchange<br />

<strong>of</strong> scientific materials and publications.<br />

As healthcare fields cont<strong>in</strong>ue to grow both nationally and<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternationally, s<strong>in</strong>gle-focused program degrees may no longer<br />

be enough for pr<strong>of</strong>essionals whose goals are to move ahead<br />

<strong>in</strong> leadership or management roles. Ga<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g a dual degree or<br />

a graduate pr<strong>of</strong>essional degree, such as <strong>U<strong>Sciences</strong></strong>’ master<br />

<strong>of</strong> public health (MPH,) provides a pathway to careers <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> future. And a new onl<strong>in</strong>e MPH program can help busy<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals achieve that goal faster. Understand<strong>in</strong>g that<br />

work<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>of</strong>essionals and students need flexibility, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> <strong>Sciences</strong>’ program consists <strong>of</strong> classes taken <strong>in</strong> eight-week<br />

blocks, and <strong>the</strong> asynchronous nature <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> program means<br />

that students can start <strong>the</strong> program at any one <strong>of</strong> six start<strong>in</strong>g<br />

po<strong>in</strong>ts throughout <strong>the</strong> year. Best <strong>of</strong> all, fulfillment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> program<br />

requirements can be accomplished <strong>in</strong> as little as two years. The<br />
