1st Davao Summerfest<br />

<strong>Phoenix</strong> <strong>Petroleum</strong> was a gold sponsor of the 1st<br />

Davao Summerfest, a month-long celebration of<br />

sports in the premiere city of Mindanao.<br />

The Davao Summerfest was held from April<br />

29 to May 29. Philippine national football team<br />

Azkals arrived as special guests on the opening<br />

day of the sportsfest, which also featured the PFF<br />

Suzuki U-23 Cup.<br />

Aside from football, the Summerfest featured<br />

the 1st Davao Horse Show and Competition,<br />

Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, marathon, autocross<br />

racing, judo, golf, Santacruzan, and a Celebrity<br />

Adventure Race.<br />

Championships in Davao City on April 28 to 30, 2011. A<br />

motorcade was held on April 29 with members of national<br />

football team Azkals and 200 motorcycle riders.<br />

The PFF Suzuki U-23 Cup was part of the 1st Davao<br />

of Brokenshire College, University of Mindanao’s<br />

Noemel John Lanuza and Holy Cross of Davao<br />

College’s Philip Ocon, Coach Emilio Lacanaria Jr.<br />

and Assistant Coach Mamerto Aventurado.<br />

Anthony Nezra competed in the 5,000M<br />

and 10,000M runs; Philip Ocon and Michael<br />

Constantino in the 800M and 1,500M runs;<br />

Noemel Lanuza in the shot put and discus throw;<br />

and Arnie Macarenas at the 3,000M, 5,000M, and<br />

10,000M runs.<br />

They expressed gratitude to <strong>Phoenix</strong> during<br />

the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA)<br />

Forum at the Tower Inn on May 18 as they<br />

promised to give their all for Davao and for<br />

<strong>Phoenix</strong>.
