From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Ding served as Deutsche Bank’s Country Head for China. David Turner, MD, Head of Private Equity THE GUARDIAN LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY OF AMERICA David Turner is Managing Director and Head of Private Equity for the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. He joined Guardian's Investment team in June 2007 to lead the roll-out and development of their private equity investment initiative. With over 25 years’ experience in private equity investing and portfolio management, David has originated and led 95 investments valued at $4.8 billion and managed portfolios totaling $17.5 billion in cumulative commitments. Marcus Simpson, Head of Global Private Equity, QIC Before joining QIC in 2005, Marcus founded and managed the US operations for Altius Associates Limited, an independent private equity consultant and discretionary manager with US$8 billion under advice or management. He participated in the global management and investment strategy for Altius. Sebastiaan van den Berg, Managing Director HARBOURVEST PARTNERS (ASIA) Sebastiaan van den Berg is a Managing Director who joined HarbourVest’s Hong Kong-based subsidiary in 2005. He focuses on investments in Asia Pacific and emerging markets. Sebastiaan serves on the advisory boards of several international private equity partnerships, including funds managed by Archer Capital, Brait Capital Partners, Castle Harlan Australian Mezzanine Partners (CHAMP), Citic Capital China, Clearwater Capital, CVC Capital Partners Asia Pacific, Everstone India, KKR China, Olympus Capital Asia, Unison Capital Partners, and Unitas Capital. Edward Grefenstette, CIO DIETRICH CHARITABLE TRUSTS Ed serves as the Chief Investment Officer of the Dietrich Charitable Trusts (DCT) in Pittsburgh, which was founded by William S. Dietrich II principally to support higher education institutions. Prior to joining the DCT, Ed served as Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and was responsible for managing a +$1B endowment and a +$400M tax-exempt debt program. Prior to CMU, he co-founded Commonwealth Capital Group, L.P., a small-cap PE fund, following seven years in investment banking and law. Eric Mason, Managing Director, Asia THE CHURCH PENSION FUND Mr. Mason has been in the Asia region for over twenty years. He joined the Church Pension Fund in 2009 as the head of Fund’s Asian office based in Hong Kong. He has responsibility for representing the Fund’s investment across all asset classes in both the private and public markets, with a focus on private equity, venture capital, real estate, hedge funds and specialized situations. In addition, Mr. Mason works closely with the investment team in the US to source new investments and to monitor existing ones. Prior to joining the Fund Mr. Mason was the Fund Head for Carlyle Asia Leverage Finance. Tom Chandos, Chairman ESMEE FAIRBAIRN FOUNDATION Tom Chandos is the chairman of the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, one of the UK’s largest foundations, with assets of around $1.3 billion and making grants of approximately $50 million per annum. He is a member of the investment committee and has particular oversight of the Foundation’s venture capital and private equity programme. He has a background in investment banking and principal investment and now chairs a number of companies, both private and publicly traded, in the real estate, media and investment sectors. He is a member of the UK House of Lords. Tina Wei, Principal, FLAG CAPITAL MANAGEMENT Tina Wei is a Principal at FLAG Capital Management, a private capital asset management firm with $4.5 billion in client commitments. She is responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence and ongoing monitoring of investments Across Asia. Ms. Wei also leads the Asia market research function and is helping to build-out FLAG’s Hong Kong office.
