Mr. Ding has been Senior Managing Director and Head for China at Temasek since March<br />

2011. Prior to Temasek, from 2002 to 2010, Mr. Ding was the Executive Chairman of the<br />

<strong>Invest</strong>ment Banking Committee, Managing Director and Head of <strong>Invest</strong>ment Banking at<br />

China International Capital Corporation Limited (“CICC”). From 1999 to 2002, Mr. Ding<br />

served as Deutsche Bank’s Country Head for China. Prior to that, from 1987 to 1999, Mr.<br />

Ding worked for the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund based in Washington<br />

D.C. in various capacities as economist, project manager, division manager, and chief representative.<br />

David Turner, MD, Head of Private Equity<br />

THE GUARDIAN LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY<br />

OF AMERICA<br />

David Turner is Managing Director and Head of Private Equity for the Guardian Life<br />

Insurance Company of America. He joined Guardian's <strong>Invest</strong>ment team in June 2007<br />

to lead the roll-out and development of their private equity investment initiative. With<br />

over 25 years’ experience in private equity investing and portfolio management, David<br />

has originated and led 95 investments valued at $4.8 billion and managed portfolios<br />

totaling $17.5 billion in cumulative commitments.<br />

Marcus Simpson, Head of Global Private Equity, QIC<br />

Before joining QIC in 2005, Marcus founded and managed the US operations for<br />

Altius Associates Limited, an independent private equity consultant and discretionary<br />

manager with US$8 billion under advice or management. He participated in the global<br />

management and investment strategy for Altius. From 1996 to 2000 Marcus worked<br />

for the Virginia Retirement System (“VRS”), a US public pension plan with assets of<br />

US$49 billion and a 5% allocation to private equity.<br />

region. He also served as an economist at the I.M.F. in Washington D.C, where he was<br />

Mr. Frank K. Tang is the CEO and Managing Partner of FountainVest Partners, a<br />

headed the China investments for Temasek Holdings. As a Senior Managing Director<br />

of Temasek Holdings, he was a member of the firmwide Senior Management<br />

Committee and its Senior <strong>Invest</strong>ment & Divestment Committee. Mr. Tang was with Goldman Sachs for<br />

nearly 11 years. He started his investment banking career at Goldman Sachs in New York, and then<br />

moved to Hong Kong. Between 2000 and 2002, Mr. Tang worked as an Executive Director in Principal<br />

<strong>Invest</strong>ment Area, the private equity arm of Goldman Sachs. He was later Managing Director and Head of<br />

the Telecom, Media and Technology investment banking effort in Asia ex-Japan for Goldman Sachs prior to<br />

joining Temasek.<br />

Sebastiaan van den Berg, Managing Director<br />

HARBOURVEST PARTNERS (ASIA)<br />

Sebastiaan van den Berg is a Managing Director who joined HarbourVest’s Hong<br />

Kong-based subsidiary in 2005. He focuses on investments in Asia Pacific and<br />

emerging markets. Sebastiaan serves on the advisory boards of several international<br />

private equity partnerships, including funds managed by Archer Capital, Brait Capital<br />

Partners, Castle Harlan Australian Mezzanine Partners (CHAMP), Citic Capital China,<br />

Clearwater Capital, CVC Capital Partners Asia Pacific, Everstone India, KKR China,<br />

Olympus Capital Asia, Unison Capital Partners, and Unitas Capital. Sebastiaan joined the Firm from H&Q<br />

was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lenovo Group. She<br />

joined the Group in 1990 and was appointed Executive Director of the board in 1997.<br />

While in her 18 years with Lenovo, Mary started with manufacturing and material<br />

control operation responsibilities, and then led the Group's international components business starting in<br />

1994. In addition to her responsibility in financial functions, she played a very importance role by leading<br />

the Group's strategic initiatives. She took the lead in Lenovo’s Hong Kong IPO in 1994, its China business<br />

restructuring and integration in 2000-2003, and the acquisition of IBM’s PC business in 2004.<br />

founder of Home Inns (NASDAQ: HMIN), the leading economy hotel chain in China<br />

listed in NASDAQ in 2006, where he acted as a Co-Chairman. Before founding Ctrip, Mr. Shen had worked<br />

for more than eight years in investment banking in New York and Hong Kong.<br />

Joe is one of the most experienced VCs in China. Joe began his venture capital<br />

career in late 1999 with Softbank China Venture Capital as Head of Beijing Office. He<br />

was a Partner at SAIF (Softbank Asia Infrastructure Fund) from 2001 to 2006. He was<br />

a Founding Managing Partner at KPCB China when Kleiner Perkins raised its China<br />

fund in early 2007. In early 2008 he founded Keytone Ventures. He was named Top<br />

Ten Venture Capitalists by CVCF in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2006 and 2007. He was also<br />

named VC of the Year in 2005 by TopCapital and Venture Capital Professional of the Year in 2010 by AVCJ.<br />

Alison Nankivell, Principal, Head of Funds, EDC EQUITY<br />

In January 2007, Ms Nankivell joined EDC’s Equity Team as Senior Portfolio Manager,<br />

responsible for EDC’s private equity fund investments in Asia and venture capital fund<br />

investments in Canada. From 2008 to 2011, Ms. Nankivell was based in Beijing<br />

managing EDC Equity’s Asia private equity fund program but returned to Ottawa in<br />

August 2011 to take up the position of Head of Fund <strong>Invest</strong>ments for EDC’s global<br />

fund program which covers a number of emerging markets and Canada. Alison<br />

Nankivell has worked in the Asia business field for the past 22 years.<br />
