LETTER FROM THE CHIEF<br />
Dear Collector,<br />
Welcome to UNPA’s Fascination No. 327-1/2011, which will be the last one in<br />
which I write to you as Chief, UNPA, as I will be taking m<strong>and</strong>atory retirement from<br />
the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong>. I will return to my home country of Australia to enjoy life with<br />
my wife, Marina, who has been a tower of strength <strong>and</strong> support during our stay<br />
in New York.<br />
Time flies when you are having fun <strong>and</strong> during my eight years at UNPA we<br />
have accomplished many new concepts such as launching personalized stamps;<br />
changing the New York Philatelic Bulletin from black <strong>and</strong> white to colour <strong>and</strong> more<br />
recently increasing its size; developing an e-commerce website for secure online<br />
orders; <strong>and</strong> most importantly developing a more interesting stamp programme to<br />
increase the number of <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> stamp collectors.<br />
For this Fascination we are featuring six new Definitive stamps on 4 February 2011, which are h<strong>and</strong>drawn<br />
illustrations of the UN Headquarters buildings in New York, Geneva <strong>and</strong> Vienna, illustrated by UNPA’s<br />
new Graphic Designer, Scott Solberg. Also on 4 February 2011, UNPA will issue its second event sheet of<br />
stamps featuring the Chinese Lunar Calendar. On 3 March 2011, UNPA will continue its fifth year of the <strong>Coin</strong><br />
<strong>and</strong> <strong>Flag</strong> <strong>series</strong>, which features the coins <strong>and</strong> flags of <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> Member States.<br />
I would like to thank all my staff at UNPA New York, Geneva <strong>and</strong> Vienna who have given me tremendous<br />
support during my tenure as Chief <strong>and</strong> who have bonded together into an excellent team to provide the<br />
very best customer service to our loyal philatelic collectors, plus our faithful dealer/agent network.<br />
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of you well in the future <strong>and</strong> thank you for your continued<br />
support of the <strong>United</strong> <strong>Nations</strong> <strong>Postal</strong> <strong>Administration</strong> philatelic programme over the years.<br />
