County <strong>of</strong> Lincoln. Member State Convention that adopted<br />

Constitution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> U. S. and voted for it; and o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong>fices <strong>of</strong><br />

trust and responsibility. Died Apr. 21, 1812, in his 78th year.<br />

Nathaniel <strong>Rice</strong>, born Oct. 15, 1749, was in <strong>the</strong> 8 months service,<br />

1775, and belonged to Moore's Company, Nixon's Regt. and<br />

died in <strong>the</strong> service.<br />

Peter <strong>Rice</strong>, born June 25, 1775 ;<br />

enlisted in <strong>the</strong> 8 months service,<br />

S. Washburn's Co., J. Ward's Regt., from Spencer. Died Feb.<br />

1, 1813.<br />

Joel <strong>Rice</strong>, born Sept. 16, 1758. A Soldier <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Revolution and<br />

in <strong>the</strong> battle <strong>of</strong> White Plains. Died Apr. 19; 1838, in his 80th<br />

year.<br />

Joseph Livermore, born, 1740. Husband <strong>of</strong> Anna <strong>Rice</strong>, <strong>of</strong><br />

E. Sudbury, was a Lieutenant at <strong>the</strong> Battle <strong>of</strong> Bunker Hill, and<br />

afterwards Captain.<br />

Solomon <strong>Rice</strong>, May 13, 1749, was in <strong>the</strong> 8 months service 1775.<br />

In Haynes' Company, Brewers' Regt. Probably killed in <strong>the</strong><br />

Service Sept. 1777.<br />

Matthias, bro<strong>the</strong>r <strong>of</strong> above, born Oct. 31, 1752, was at Lexington<br />

Alarm, April, 1775. Died Sept. 17, 1798.<br />

Joel <strong>Rice</strong>, born May 17, 1752, was in Day's Company, 7th.<br />

Reg't., 1777, and marked "dead" Military Rolls.<br />

Wm. Gates, (son <strong>of</strong> Jane <strong>Rice</strong>) born Apr. 21, 1758, was a<br />

drummer in <strong>the</strong> Army <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rev., 4 yrs. and 7 mos., and died<br />

at Vienna. N. Y., Mar., 1852, aged 94 yrs.<br />

Jonathan <strong>Rice</strong>, Apr. 8, 1 736. For many years a deputy sheriff ;<br />

one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> law and order vo^nteers during Shav's Rebellion and<br />

shot, in a skirmish at New Braintree, in <strong>the</strong> Winter <strong>of</strong> 1786.<br />

Abel <strong>Rice</strong>, March 29, 1746, was a soldier in <strong>the</strong> Rev. in <strong>the</strong> 8<br />

mos. service, 1775, in Drapers' Co., Gardner's Reg't. and subsequently<br />

a Sergeant in <strong>the</strong> service. Died July 9, 1800.<br />

Jacob Hememway, husband <strong>of</strong> Mary <strong>Rice</strong>, was a Lieutenant in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Company under command <strong>of</strong> Capt. Aaron <strong>Rice</strong> <strong>of</strong> Rutland,<br />

1756 and upon <strong>the</strong> death <strong>of</strong> Capt. <strong>Rice</strong> at Crown Point succeeded<br />

to <strong>the</strong> command, and died Feb. 6, 1801, aged 78.<br />

Joel <strong>Rice</strong>, born May 3, 1733. A member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>of</strong><br />

Correspondence and on <strong>the</strong> 19th <strong>of</strong> April, 1775, at Lexington<br />

Alarm. Lieut, in Gates' Co. and continued in service during<br />

most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> war. Died at Concord, Feb. 4, 1819, in his 86th<br />

year.<br />
