On <strong>March</strong> 5 th , 2013 Parkton’s<br />
5 th Graders were visited by<br />
two <strong>of</strong> Fayetteville’s FireAntz<br />
members. They came to read<br />
to the grade level and answer<br />
questions.<br />

On <strong>March</strong> 7th, 2013 Conner<br />
Leach was announced the<br />
winner <strong>of</strong> <strong>Robeson</strong> <strong>County</strong>’s<br />
2012-2013 Spelling Bee held<br />
at Pembroke Elementary.<br />

Pembroke Elementary<br />
On February 19th and 20th our<br />
fourth and fifth graders had a very<br />
special visitor. Mr. Jose<br />
Hernandez, Gang Detective for the<br />
<strong>Robeson</strong> <strong>County</strong> Sheriffs<br />
Department, came to speak with our<br />
students about the importance <strong>of</strong><br />
being good students and choosing our<br />
friends wisely. Mr. Jose shared some<br />
his life experieces with our students<br />
and educated them about some things<br />
that they should be aware <strong>of</strong> that is<br />
going on in our area. Mr. Jose ended<br />
his message by showing our students a<br />
music video with these lyrics "I know I<br />
can, Be what i wanna be, if I work hard<br />
School<br />
at it, I'll be where I wanna be. A big<br />
thanks to Mr. Jose. You really inspired<br />
our students to be the best they can<br />
be!<br />
Pre-K has been busy learning<br />
alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors.<br />
We visited Lowe’s Food to learn<br />
about and taste various healthy foods.<br />
We had a great time at the UniverSoul<br />
circus. The children saw many<br />
animals, a magic show and acrobats.<br />
We celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday<br />
with different activities including A Cat<br />
in the Hat snack and guest readers.<br />
17
