We celebrated Dr. Seuss Week by
having many people come out and
read to our students and talk about
the importance of reading everyday!
We are also excited about our field
trip to the Columbia Zoo!
Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!
First grade celebrated Dr. Seuss Day
with making green eggs and ham!
We are looking forward to our trip to
the Columbia Zoo!
Second grade is busy with enforcing
PBIS and practicing with the schoolwide
matrix. The students are
excited about the upcoming “Spring
Fling” and our end-of-year-trip!
Congratulations to Grace Oxendine
for being selected “Student of the
Month” in Mr. Hardin’s class.
The third grade students are fully
charged after seeing the greatest
show on Earth, Ringling Bros. &
Barnum & Bailey Circus. Students
observed animals such as the camel
that they learned about through
reading. It was an exciting
experience, especially our lunch at
ChuckeCheese, where a “Kid Can Be
A Kid”!
Fourth grade students have been
working really hard in our classes.

February was an exciting time in
the Carroll Middle School Kingdom
with “Curric with the Chick” on
February 5th. We had a wonderful
turnout of parents and students as
teachers discussed the core
curriculum and provided other
useful information to the parents.
After the presentation, Chic-fil-A
served sandwiches, chips and soft
drinks to all that attended. Parent
comments were that they hope we
have more curriculum nights in the
future.
February brought with it the CMS
Science Fair and Art Show. Fifth
grade students chose a scientific
question related to 5 different
categories and used this as the
determining the theme / topic of
them. We have also been working on
learning the three R’s andteaching it
to the other students.
We are being Responsible,
Respectful,and Ready to learn!
Watch out for Deep Branch’s 5th
grade Bulldogs. We are busy
preparing ourselves for the EOG with
learning new skills and strategies
that will help to ensure we reach
success.
The sixth grade students have been
working hard in all their Common
Core classes and doing quite a bit of
research for Ancient Greece and
Rome. The students enjoyed a
Valentine dance with their friends
and a variety of music for all. Our
focus of their science project.
These were displayed in the
cafeteria and in the 5th grade
hallway. First, second, and third
places were awarded to students
for each category.
Mrs. Smith’s art students also
had their beautiful creations on
display in the gym. The students
used a variety of mediums to create
original, personal and interesting
pieces of art.
The hard work of the teachers,
students, and parents made this
night a great celebration of the
intelligence and capabilities of our
students.
Dr. Seuss Wild N Wacky Dress up Day
students and teachers worked
together to come up with some
wonderful incentives for the PBIS
program which has brought around
positive actions for our school!
Everyone celebrated Dr. Seuss’s
birthday with a week of activities
and playing dress up. The Top AR
readers in each class received a
goodie bag with Dr. Seuss items, and
all the students received Dr. Seuss
pencils and the staff each received
Dr. Seuss pens and class posters.
