ARTICLE III<br />

DISTRICTS AND SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS<br />

PERTAINING TO EACH DISTRICT<br />

D. All refuse collection containers shall comply with the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Lufkin</strong> Technical<br />

Specifications and Construction Standards.<br />

SECTION 8 – SIGNAGE<br />

Only monument and wall signs shall be permitted in the Office District. Pylon signs are not<br />

permitted in the Office District. Signs which are temporary or signs which display advertising in<br />

an electronic format (to include menu or arrow signs, neon lighting in primary or trim usage,<br />

banner, reader boards, flashing bulbs, digital screen and streaming text or advertising on<br />

movable support structures) are not permitted in the Office District. No directly or indirectly<br />

illuminated sign shall be permitted within forty foot (40’) <strong>of</strong> a single-family or duplex zoning<br />

district boundary line.<br />

A. Monument Signs<br />

1. A lot shall contain no more than one (1) sign per street frontage, provided<br />

however, that no more than one (1) sign per lot shall be located along a single<br />

street.<br />

2. The maximum height <strong>of</strong> a monument sign shall not exceed ten foot (10’) above<br />

grade.<br />

3. The maximum area for total sign face (which is the cumulative measure <strong>of</strong> the<br />

front and back <strong>of</strong> the sign) shall not exceed one hundred square foot (100’) which<br />

shall be determined by measureing the area <strong>of</strong> the smallest box which would<br />

entirely enclose all elements <strong>of</strong> the sign.<br />

4. Signs shall not be located so as to project into the right-<strong>of</strong>-way or into the side<br />

yard setback.<br />

B. Wall Sign<br />

1. The maximum area <strong>of</strong> all signage shall not exceed twenty percent (20%) <strong>of</strong> the<br />

building face upon which the signage is mounted, but in no event shall a single<br />

sign exceed one hundred square foot (100’) which shall be determined by<br />

measuring the area <strong>of</strong> the smallest box which would entirely enclose all elements<br />

<strong>of</strong> the sign. Wall area shall only include wall area <strong>of</strong> floors which can be<br />

occupied.<br />

2. No wall sign shall extend above the ro<strong>of</strong> line <strong>of</strong> a structure nor shall signs be<br />

attached to the ro<strong>of</strong> structure.<br />

SECTION 9 – IMPACT MITIGATION<br />

In order to limit impacts from a use in the Office District, the following requirements must be<br />

met and shown on the site plan:<br />

A. Vehicles utilizing the site will be routed so as to prevent vehicle impacts, such as noise,<br />

exhaust and head lights shining into residences.<br />
