2012 Homecoming Court Members <strong>of</strong> the 2012 <strong>Badin</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

King & Queen Seniors Taryn Stang and Greg<br />

Childs were crowned 2012 Homecoming queen<br />

and king at halftime <strong>of</strong> the football game on<br />

Saturday, Oct. 13. Stang is the daughter <strong>of</strong> Barry<br />

and Susan Reuter Stang ’88 and a graduate <strong>of</strong><br />

Sacred Heart <strong>School</strong>. Childs is the son <strong>of</strong> Doug<br />

and Tricia Wiegand Childs ’82 and a graduate <strong>of</strong><br />

St. Peter in Chains <strong>School</strong>.<br />

Notre Dame Alumni Dinner The Notre Dame Alumnae<br />

Dinner was held on October 10 at the Courtyard by Marriott in<br />

Hamilton, honoring the Class <strong>of</strong> 1962. The Notre Dame<br />

Alumnae are please to have provided six $500 scholarships to<br />

incoming freshmen girls based on essays they have received.<br />

The 2012 scholarship recipients are: 1st place: Ali Kalberer, 2nd<br />

place – Morgan Deitschel, 3rd – Rachel Rider, 4th – Kelsey<br />

Hillard, 5th – Holly Hubbard and 6th – Noelle Lutterbie. The<br />

girls were recognized during the 2012 event at the podium<br />

where they expressed their thanks. The 2013 dinner will honor<br />

the Class <strong>of</strong> 1963.<br />

Filipek Scholarship The <strong>Badin</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> girls’ soccer<br />

program donated $400 to the Megan Filipek Scholarship fund<br />

following summer activities. Filipek, from the Class <strong>of</strong> 2002,<br />

passed away in a tragic boating accident in the summer <strong>of</strong> 2006.<br />

Her parents set up the scholarship fund that has benefited<br />

numerous BHS students in Megan’s name. On hand for the Sept.<br />

10 presentation were, front row from left, Megan’s classmate<br />

and soccer teammate Sarah Graf; her parents, Tom and Beth<br />

Filipek; and <strong>Badin</strong> soccer co-captain junior Holly Reed. At rear<br />

are girls soccer head coach Steve Tabar, Principal Brian<br />

Pendergest ‘90, soccer co-captains seniors Kelsey Riley and<br />

Paige Bucheit, and Development Director Angie Pieper Gray ’83.
