Cable Mounted Products<br />

HTS <strong>Power</strong> <strong>Connector</strong>s<br />

are heavy-duty, rectangular,<br />

multiple-position, pin and<br />

socket connectors. They<br />

are commonly referred<br />

to as “Rectangular” or<br />

“European Metal Shell”<br />

connectors.<br />

HTS <strong>Connector</strong>s are<br />

designated by four<br />

components: base and<br />

hood, and male and female<br />

inserts. The designation<br />

is driven by electrical<br />

specifications; pin count<br />

and current rating define<br />

the inserts needed. From 1<br />

to 216 contact positions are<br />

available. Current ratings<br />

range from 10-500 A.<br />

The appropriate housing<br />

size (1-12) to accommodate<br />

selected inserts is then<br />

defined. Housing selection<br />

criteria include: base<br />

mounting style, latch type,<br />

hood cable entry location,<br />

and hood gland size. The<br />

most popular housing sizes<br />

are: Shell Size 1 (3 or 4<br />

positions), Shell Size 3<br />

(6 positions), Shell Size 6<br />

(16 positions), Shell Size 8<br />

(24 positions), and Shell<br />

Size 5 (25 positions).<br />

HTS <strong>Connector</strong>s have<br />

many applications:<br />

(automotive, plastics,<br />

semiconductors, material<br />

handling, packaging and<br />

printing), Railroad and<br />

Mass Transit (A/C and<br />

brake subsystems, power<br />

transformers, door systems,<br />
