Automotive Audio and Infotainment<br />

Our loyal customers continue to reward<br />

<strong>Harman</strong> with new automotive projects,<br />

based on long partnerships and successful<br />

execution of the largest new project<br />

backlog in our history.<br />

Since introducing the world’s fi rst car<br />

radio in 1949, <strong>Harman</strong> and its brands<br />

have brought an increasing range of<br />

leading-edge comfort and safety features<br />

to travelers around the world.<br />

An estimated 20 million vehicles on<br />

the road today are equipped with<br />

our systems for audio, navigation,<br />

infotainment and driver assistance.<br />

Continuing this legacy, <strong>Harman</strong> has<br />

launched more than a dozen major<br />

audio and infotainment platforms since<br />

mid 2008, each custom designed to<br />

meet the needs of discriminating<br />

automakers and their customers. This<br />

multi-year awarded system business<br />

will serve OEM brands across the<br />

Americas, Europe and Asia. Our new<br />

engineering center in India and a new<br />

world-class plant in China will help<br />

both <strong>Harman</strong> and its customers<br />

leverage continued growth in the<br />

emerging markets.<br />

During 2009, we launched the<br />

exclusive <strong>Harman</strong> GreenEdge series<br />

of energy-effi cient systems, off ering<br />

carmakers signifi cant weight and power<br />

savings without compromising acoustic<br />

performance. We also formed an exclusive<br />

partnership with Lotus Engineering<br />

to enhance interior automotive acoustics<br />

through advanced sound engineering<br />

and to synthesize outside sounds as<br />

electric cars approach pedestrians or<br />

other vehicles.<br />

Our distinguished customers continue<br />

to honor <strong>Harman</strong> with new business,<br />

including such 2009 awards as nextgeneration<br />

hybrid navigation systems<br />

for eight Mercedes-Benz® models,<br />

branded audio for new Land Rover<br />

and Range Rover models, a strategic<br />

supply agreement for Porsche® infotainment<br />

systems, and a full-line audio<br />

partnership with MINI.<br />
