We believe that our facilities are in substantial compliance with current laws and regulations. We expect
further laws similar to the RoHS and those governing product and packaging recycling to be introduced in other
jurisdictions, many or most of which could impose additional costs, including fees to cover recycling costs. The
need for and cost of our compliance with such legislation cannot yet be determined but it could be substantial.
Research and Development
We believe that continued investment in product research and development is critical to our success.
Expenditures for research and development were $331.7 million, $395.9 million and $356.7 million for the fiscal
years ended June 30, 2009, 2008 and 2007, respectively. We expect to continue to devote significant resources to
research and development to sustain our competitive position.

At June 30, 2009, we had 9,482 full-time employees, including 3,407 employees located in North America
and 6,075 located outside of North America.
