Prison staff perceptions of the effects of an ITT project on participants<br />
Staff recognised the value of such projects and identified these as be<strong>in</strong>g an opportunity to:<br />
• build self-esteem<br />
• show the women that they can achieve results<br />
• explore alternative activities<br />
• work as a team<br />
• <strong>in</strong>crease the morale of both staff and <strong>in</strong>mates<br />
• give them someth<strong>in</strong>g new to concentrate on<br />
• express themselves clearly<br />
• take their m<strong>in</strong>d off the general regime<br />
• be <strong>in</strong>troduced to new k<strong>in</strong>ds of music<br />
• change their attitudes<br />
• see the benefits of be<strong>in</strong>g a team member<br />
• br<strong>in</strong>g staff and <strong>in</strong>mates closer.<br />
