Brighton undertakes Antrong exploration
BRIGHTON Mining Group is undertaking intensive
exploration at the Antrong Gold Project.
The work programs, including sampling,
trenching and drilling, are focusing on areas
that have previously produced significant exploration
results as well as areas that have
been identified through prior reconnaissance
as hosting mineralization.
The ASX-listed company’s exploration work
was delayed late last year due to a longer
than usual wet season and unprecedented
flooding in the regional parts of Cambodia
that directly affected the project areas. The
work is being carried for the duration of the
current dry season and includes follow-up
drilling at the Antrong concession, preliminary
drilling at Ropoah concession, infill soil sampling,
auger sampling, trenching and stream
sediment sampling on all concessions.
Geophysics will also be undertaken on all
concessions, include flying aeromagnetic surveys.
In addition, ground geophysics using
down hole electromagnetic conductivity (EM)
at Antrong and induced polarization (IP) will
be done to test geological areas of interest.
The Antrong concession is 230km northwest
of Phnom Penh in the province of Mondulkiri.
The concession covers an area of
58.5sqkm and is about 9km northeast of the
Okvau project of OZ Minerals.
Gathering samples from Brighton Mining’s Antrong project.
The Antrong drilling program is following up
previous drilling which returned intersections
including 3 metres @ 6.91 grams/tonne gold
including 2 metres @ 9.45 grams/tonne; 5.7
metres @ 5.06 grams/tonne including 1
metre @ 11.1 grams/tonne; and 2 metres @
4.6 grams/tonne.
It also includes new areas of interest where
previous highly encouraging results showed
geochemical soil samples peaking at 331 and
228 ppb gold in the Tev and O’Thmey West
prospects; rock chip samples peaking at
46.1, 21.4, 14.0 and 11.5 grams/tonne gold
in O’Thmey South prospect; additional rock
chip samples of 26.3 grams/tonne found to
the south of O’Thmey; and anomalies where
ASTAR images and coincident geological interpretations
have been identified.
The work programs also include preliminary
drilling with follow-up trench sampling at
Ropoah where significant results were encountered,
including geochemical soil samples
peaking at 313 ppb gold and rock chip
samples peaking at 54.2 grams/tonne gold
and 4430 grams/tonne silver.
Stream and soil auger sampling is also
being carried out at Kang Roland North,
which has been identified as hosting another
large granodiorite similar to that at Antrong
which hosts the Okvau project.
