People who have experienced<br />

war and torture<br />

often have psychiatric<br />

symptoms such as sleeping<br />

problems, nightmares<br />

and anxiety long<br />

afterwards. Many county<br />

councils have specially trained personnel who can help<br />

people who have gone through such traumatic experiences.<br />

The Red Cross and other organisations also operate special<br />

centres. The refugee coordinator in your municipality is<br />

familiar with the resources available where you live.<br />

Dental care<br />

Children and young people under 20 years of age receive<br />

free dental care from the National Dental Service,<br />

Folktandvården. Notification is sent out when it is time for<br />

a check-up. People over 20 have to pay for dental care. The<br />

state partially subsidises basic dental care, such as checkups<br />

and fillings, so the patient does not pay the full cost of<br />

treatment.<br />
