When the <strong>Bank</strong> needed someone to help stem their<br />

losses, <strong>Fiserv</strong> was ready with a leading-edge toolkit that<br />

was easy to implement.<br />

“Four years ago our fraud losses were<br />

minimal,” said Suzanne Knapp, Vice<br />

had an incident last November when my<br />

staff and I sat at the computer entering<br />

TranBlocker rules blocking transactions<br />

on a path from Houston to Dallas. It was<br />

uncanny. We could see where the criminals<br />

were going and blocked their transactions<br />

store by store.”<br />

or internationally where we’re seeing<br />

the most fraud. Adding a rule is instant.<br />

Fraudsters simply can’t get through to you<br />

and I just love picturing fraudsters trying to<br />

use their cards after we’ve blocked them.”<br />

Using <strong>Fiserv</strong> risk management tools not<br />

only cut <strong>Banner</strong> <strong>Bank</strong>’s fraud losses, they<br />

also added to the bank’s bottom line and<br />

improved cardholder satisfaction. “In a<br />

recent large card compromise, we didn’t<br />

need to reissue cards because we already<br />

had solid rules in place. We were already<br />

monitoring activity outside our three-state<br />

servicing area for spend of over $300, and<br />

using real-time transaction scoring from<br />

<strong>Fiserv</strong> we were able to evaluate and block<br />

high-risk transactions immediately. We set<br />

the level at which we wanted to elevate a<br />

case, move them to real-time scoring – or<br />

totally block a transaction. Our multi-leveled<br />

approach has been highly successful in<br />

curtailing fraud losses.”<br />

When we started, we were intimidated by the<br />

complexity of the tools and weren’t sure how<br />

any of them would work – and we didn’t have the<br />

time to figure it all out. But it was easy. It just<br />
