<strong>Annual</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2010</strong>-<strong>2011</strong><br />

development of new technology and innovation for persons with disabilities. An<br />

amount of Rs. 50000 was sanctioned and released to ISAAC – India Chapter for<br />

convening 2 nd <strong>National</strong> Conference on Alternative Communication and Assistive<br />

Technology for persons with disabilities held in Chennai on 9 -10 July, <strong>2010</strong>.<br />

18.3 Media<br />

To sensitize society about the schemes, programmes and activities of the <strong>National</strong><br />

<strong>Trust</strong> different modes are adopted such as planners, table calendars and wall calendars<br />

featuring role models and achievers with developmental disabilities besides<br />

advertisements in newspapers, articles in magazines.<br />

For creating awareness among families having persons with disabilities to get them<br />

counted during the Census <strong>2011</strong>, a 30 seconds film was made by <strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> and<br />

was telecast by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, Government of India<br />

on Doordarshan.<br />

18.4 9 th Anjali <strong>National</strong> Children’s Festival<br />

<strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> supported the endeavour of Swabhiman – an NGO in organizing<br />

‘Anjali’ an Inclusive Children Festival held annually in Bhubaneswar to encourage<br />

children to come together and participate in various creative activities. This year,<br />

the programme was held during 10 th – 14 th November, <strong>2010</strong>, in which around 1000<br />

children, escorts and volunteers participated. An amount of Rs. 3.0 lakh has been<br />

sanctioned, out of which Rs. 1.50 lakh has been released.<br />

18.5 International Conference/Workshop on Autism<br />

<strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> has also supported Tamana Association, New Delhi in organizing<br />

International Conference/ Workshop on Autism from 8-11 April, <strong>2010</strong>. An amount of<br />

Rs. 1.0 lakh has been released for this purpose.<br />

18.6 Awareness camp on World Autism Day<br />

‘World Autism Day’ is celebrated by <strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> and its registered organizations<br />

across the country on 2nd April, <strong>2011</strong>, <strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> in collaboration with St.<br />

Stephen’s Hospital, the mother NGO dealing with Homeless population in Delhi,<br />

organized mobile awareness campaign at 40 places of Delhi, being conducted by<br />

homeless people with disabilities on tricycles at strategic locations. The campaign<br />

proved to be a good success specially in the resettlement colonies.<br />

18.7 We Care Filmfest <strong>2010</strong><br />

We Care Film Fest is an annual international festival of documentary films on<br />

disability issues. It is organized by Brotherhood with the support of <strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong><br />

and in association with the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan<br />

(UNIC), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization<br />

(UNESCO) and the Asian Academy of Film and Television (AAFT).<br />

The Festival is an advocacy tool that seeks to bring about attitudinal and behavioural<br />

changes on approaches to disability, promote the inclusion of people with disabilities,<br />

and rid people of misconceptions, myths and prejudices surrounding disability issues.<br />

The Festival seeks to promote the rights of persons with disabilities as set out in the<br />

UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD)<br />
