20. 10 th <strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting<br />
20.1 The 10 th <strong>Annual</strong> General Meeting of <strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> was one of consolidation wherein<br />
we looked back at our achievements and hurdles and thought of our future, and how<br />
should we go forward. The event was organized at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra,<br />
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on 10 th September <strong>2010</strong>. Chairperson Mrs Poonam Natarajan<br />
welcomed the stakeholders and other dignitaries and presented the annual report<br />
2009-10 highlighting various achievements, the streamlining of our programmes, more<br />
scientific reporting, the need of awareness creation - the huge success of Badhte<br />
Kadam-I.<br />
It followed the inauguration of E3 Challenge. Also there was the launch of Multimedia<br />
Kit for parents of persons with multiple disabilities by Shri D Napoleon, Hon’ble<br />
Minister of State, SJ&E. He then presented the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Trust</strong> <strong>Annual</strong> Awards. In<br />
his concluding speech he applauded the spirit of the awardees and the heights they<br />
have reached in their respective areas. He had a word of praise for parents of PwDs<br />
who have untiringly been with their children irrespective of their disability. He also<br />
felt that the Multimedia Kit should be translated not only into Hindi but in other<br />
regional languages also.<br />
20.2 The second session of the meeting was devoted to eminent speakers. Mr Ashwin<br />
Chandrasekharan of Invention Labs who has developed a device AVAZ which breaks<br />
the barriers of communication for people with cerebral palsy, multiple disability or<br />
people having problem in oral communication. He explained how people with<br />
impaired speech can now communicate like all others.<br />
20.3 Ms Merry Barua spoke about identifying Autism, the path taken in our country and<br />
the latest developments in the field. Ms Helen spoke about the latest research plans<br />
for Intellectual Disabilities and formation of NAPKID. Ms Pushpa Aman Singh of<br />
GuideStar India talked about Governance and Transparency.<br />
20.4 All these presentations were aimed at enlightening our stakeholders about the growth<br />
of technology and the developments in our field.<br />
20.5 The meeting then moved on to the open forum, in which several queries from the<br />
audience were addressed. The event concluded with the vote of thanks.<br />
