<strong>Indian</strong> <strong>aluminium</strong> <strong>industry</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tinues <strong>on</strong> expansi<strong>on</strong> course<br />

The <strong>Indian</strong> <strong>aluminium</strong> <strong>industry</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tinues <strong>on</strong> its expansi<strong>on</strong> course. This was clearly apparent at the<br />

sec<strong>on</strong>d <strong>ALUMINIUM</strong> <strong>INDIA</strong> which closed successfully in Mumbai with a noticeable increase in<br />

visitor numbers. Altogether, 2,300 trade visitors came to the Bombay Exhibiti<strong>on</strong> Centre between 25<br />

and 27 February. Compared to the first event two years ago, this represents a 35 percent increase<br />

for the specialist fair. Growth was also attributable to more visitors from abroad. Am<strong>on</strong>g others, the<br />

Middle East was str<strong>on</strong>gly represented.<br />

108 exhibitors from 18 countries presented themselves at <strong>ALUMINIUM</strong> <strong>INDIA</strong>, am<strong>on</strong>g them big<br />

<strong>industry</strong> players like Vedanta, Hindalco, Bhoruka Aluminium Ltd., Fata Hunter, Pyrotek, RUSAL, or<br />

Wagstaff. Like the first event, the trade fair was accompanied by the Alcastek C<strong>on</strong>ference, the<br />

internati<strong>on</strong>al c<strong>on</strong>gress <strong>on</strong> <strong>aluminium</strong> casting, rolling and extrusi<strong>on</strong> technology.<br />

For the next few years, the <strong>Indian</strong> <strong>aluminium</strong> <strong>industry</strong> expects a str<strong>on</strong>g increase in c<strong>on</strong>sumpti<strong>on</strong>.<br />

The <strong>Indian</strong> government counts especially <strong>on</strong> the automotive sector for growth and investments, the<br />

Minister for Industry of Maharashtra, Rajendra Darda, emphasised at the opening of the fair. In the<br />

primary producti<strong>on</strong> sector, the <strong>Indian</strong> <strong>aluminium</strong> market will also grow in the next few years:<br />

currently, Hindalco and Balco are expanding their smelting capacities <strong>on</strong> the subc<strong>on</strong>tinent.<br />

<strong>ALUMINIUM</strong> <strong>INDIA</strong> has been organised by Reed Exhibiti<strong>on</strong>s, the organiser of the <strong>ALUMINIUM</strong><br />

World Fair in Essen, since 2008. With the Mumbai fair as well as other sister fairs such as<br />

<strong>ALUMINIUM</strong> CHINA and <strong>ALUMINIUM</strong> DUBAI, the trade fair organiser is represented in the most<br />

rapidly growing markets.<br />

The next <strong>ALUMINIUM</strong> <strong>INDIA</strong> will take place from 10 – 12 November 2011.<br />
