CANAL DAYS MARINE HERITAGE
FESTIVAL 2011
Canal Days is a unique waterfront festival, which
celebrates the communities’ marine heritage. Four days
of events for the whole family, cruises on tall ships,
fireworks, carnival midway, food booths, car show,
kids’ zone, kite flying. Canal Days offers many, varied

FORT ERIE FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL
Friendship Festival is a premier event that happens
between Canada Day and Independence Day. We
celebrate 2 major holidays as a symbol of friendship
and peace between Canada and the United States.
Friendship Festival relies on more than 300 volunteers
to assist in the running of its international Festival.
There are many volunteer jobs that need to be filled
over this 5-day event and we guarantee that you will
have fun and want to come back every year.

WINTER FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
November 6th to January 31st, 2011
The Winter Festival of Lights, Canada’s largest lights
festival, illuminates the wintry nights with nearly 3
million lights and over 125 animated lighting displays,
including the world-famous Enchantment of Disney
displays. The Festival is looking for volunteers to assist
over the 12 week festival. What a great way to earn

in the areas of humanitarian issues and assisting

FAMILY & CHILDREN’S SERVICES NIAGARA
FACS Niagara is looking for mature student volunteers
to provide assistance throughout the Niagara Region.
Our tutors provide one to one assistance to children
who require help with schoolwork, specific subjects
or just general homework completion. The commitment
is one hour, once a week for the duration of the
school year.
We are looking for students with strong academic skills
who have patience and who should be committed to
their assignment. We complete a thorough screening
process and it takes approximately 3 to 5 weeks to
become an approved volunteer. Transportation and
attendance at one agency orientation is required.

NIAGARA CHILD AND YOUTH SERVICES
Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity to work
with children and families in the field of social work
NYCS provides a continuum of mental health
services to children, youth and their families form
ages 0 to 18 years.
Volunteer opportunities are with the Supervised
Visitation and Exchange Niagara Program. The goal is
to provide a safe, neutral place for children to have a
relationship with a non-custodial parent during a time of
conflict over visiting arrangements during
separation and divorce. Volunteers must be 18 years
of age and be available to do weekend shifts
or weekday evenings.

RAINBOW YOUTH NIAGARA
Rainbow Youth Niagara provides support for sexually
and gender diverse youth across Niagara, aged 14-24
years. We provide outreach, recreational activities and
special events such as our Annual Pride Picnic and
LGBTQ Youth Conference, support for schools in
starting and maintaining safe school clubs, workshops
and presentations and safe space resources.
Volunteers are needed to help with events and
programs. Community service hours are available.

SCOUTS CANADA
Scouts Canada offers volunteer opportunities for high
school students who enjoy working with children and
wish to broaden their leadership skills in a fun and
safe environment. Our programs run in many locations
across Niagara Region from September to May. Scouts
now offer SCOUTS About (ages 5-10) currently running
after school, PA-Days and Summer Camp programs
-- ideal for students who need ideas for projects to run
for credit.
