Culverden Fire Brigade News
Well we have certainly had some very cold and
miserable conditions to contend with recently, and
here’s hoping that we have had the snow for the
year. Yeah Right.
The main-power guys were certainly very busy and
we had a few call outs as well. Mainly branches
touching wires and transformers catching fire. So
perhaps this would be a good time to check that
branches are not going to touch wires.
Another point to remember is that with the cold
mornings and the odd snow fall, don’t overload your
power points. This can be the wall socket or your
multi-pin box. Remember to keep clothes at least 1
metre from heaters, especially gas heaters and fan
heaters.
Electric blankets are good, but don’t sleep with
them on and get them checked regularly. Worn, old
electric blankets can cause electric shock, fire and
the possibility of death. Get your blanket tested by
a qualified electrician. Turn your electric blanket
off when you get into bed.
The fire brigade would like to say a big THANK
YOU to Matthew Hilliard Excavating Ltd who came
round with his Bob-Cat and cleared in front of the
station, this helped to keep us operationally ready.
For all the new folk who have come into the Amuri
area, we welcome you and remember if you see
smoke, or smell smoke. The number to call is 111,
and ask for “FIRE”.
So the catch phrase for this month is
“Remember keep things 1 metre from the heater”
Keep warm and safe.
Draw for Saturday 16th June 2012
