Age<br />
For all <strong>SMD</strong> categories apart from homelessonly,<br />
the most common age group is 25–34<br />
years old, and in most instances the next most<br />
common category is 35–44 years old (Figure 4).<br />
The dominance of the 25–44 year old age band<br />
is most marked for those <strong>SMD</strong> categories that<br />
include substance misuse and/or offending.<br />
It is notable that the homeless-only category<br />
is the youngest, with over 40% aged under 25 10<br />
(see also Homeless Link, 2014), whereas the<br />
substance-only category is the oldest, with one<br />
quarter aged 45–64. There are very few over<br />
65s in any <strong>SMD</strong> group. This age breakdown,<br />
as with the gender profile above, is very similar<br />
to that found in the MEH survey (Fitzpatrick<br />
et al., 2013).<br />
