2006: 14.5 15 Akgöl, Göksu Delta – 22.5 8 Bendimahi Marshes, Van Gölü – 23.5 3 South Van<br />

Marshes.<br />

2007: 14.5 5 Akgöl, Göksu Delta – 17.5 10 Tödürge Gölü – 17.5 3 Sivas-Kizilham Gecedi – 21.5 5<br />

Bendimahi – 21.5 10 Aydinlar.<br />

3. Red-necked Grebe Podiceps grisegena Gråstrubet Lappedykker<br />

2005: 17.5 2 ad. waterhole near Ardahan.<br />

2006: 21.5 1 Ardahan (same as 2005).<br />

2007: 20.5 1 Ardahan (same as 2005 and 2006)<br />

Scarce and local breeder, in Eastern Turkey confined <strong>to</strong> shallow small lakes in flat country.<br />

4. Black-necked Grebe Podiceps nigricollis Sorthalset Lappedykker<br />

2005: 18.5 9 at waterhole near Kars was the largest number. Scattered observations Lake Van, and<br />

2 Akgöl, Göksu Delta on 13.5.<br />

2006: 21.5 1 Ardahan – 21.5 45 Kars (same waterhole as in 2005) – 22.5 1 Bendimahi Marshes-<br />

Van – 23.5 4 South Van Marshes, Van.<br />

2007: 20.5 100 Kars – 21.5 30 Aydinlar.<br />

A leucistic bird observed Aydinlar 21.5 2007. It showed pale greyish-brown overall plumage, but<br />

traces of normal summer head.<br />

5. Little Grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis Lille Lappedykker<br />

Scattered observations in most suitable habitats such as small lakes and ponds.<br />

2005: Most 17-18.5 10 water ponds near Ardahan and Kars.<br />

2006: Most 21.5 25 Ardahan – 21.5 5 Kars.<br />

2007: 17.5 1 Sivas – 20.5 3 Ardahan – 21.5 1 Aydinlar – 25.5 4 River Euphrates S of Birezik<br />

6. Cory´s Shearwater Calonectris diomedea Kuhls Skråpe<br />

2007: 14.5 4 Paradeniz Point, Göksu Delta.<br />

Regularly observed <strong>from</strong> the Mediterranean Coastline, especially <strong>from</strong> Karatas south of Adana (e.g.<br />

7 seen here on an afternoon late May 2007 (Olof Jönsson per sms).<br />

7. Dalmatian Pelican Pelecanus crispus Krøl<strong>to</strong>ppet Pelikan<br />

2005: 17.5 1 Aktas Gölü, with White Pelicans.<br />

Decreasing breeding population in Turkey is 100-150 pairs, mainly in the west (most Manyas and<br />

Bafa Gölü´s, Büyük Menderes, Kizilmak Delta); a small isolated breeding population is found at<br />

Aktas and Cirdir Gölü´s near the border <strong>to</strong> Georgia (Tucker & Heath 1994). Frequently observed<br />

Nigde, <strong>Central</strong> Ana<strong>to</strong>lia.
